Early diagnosis of amblyopia

Visual Neuroscience, 2018
AbstractAmblyopia can be improved or eliminated more easily when treated early in life. Because amblyopia in older children is generally less responsive to treatment (Holmes et al., 2011), there is a premium on the early identification of amblyopia and its risk factors and the subsequent treatment thereof.

Early diagnosis of spondyloarthritis

Nature Clinical Practice Rheumatology, 2006
The term 'spondyloarthritis', which is preferred to 'spondyloarthropathy', refers to a group of similar diseases with distinct clinical features and a common genetic predisposition, rather than one disease with different clinical presentations. Journal of the American Medical Association, 1886
The opprobrium obstetrici is our inability to make a prompt and positive diagnosis of pregnancy in the earlier months. How often are we confronted by one of our female patients with the query, "Am I pregnant?" Many a woman imagines that her doctor can look at her and tell whether she is pregnant. How often great things depend upon our decision.

Early diagnosis in glaucoma

This chapter reviews the evidence for the clinical application of vision function tests and imaging devices to identify early glaucoma, and sets out a scheme for the appropriate use and interpretation of test results in screening/case-finding and clinic settings. In early glaucoma, signs may be equivocal and the diagnosis is often uncertain.
