Feeding, Fear, and Acceptance: Caregivers’ Experiences of Nutritional Support During Childhood Cancer Treatment

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose To explore caregivers' experiences and perceptions of the nutritional challenges faced by children and adolescents undergoing cancer treatment, including oral intake and the use of nutritional support. Methods This was a qualitative study based on focus groups with parents and caregivers at a Brazilian pediatric oncology hospital ...

Impact of early posthatch feeding on the immune system and selected hematological, biochemical, and hormonal parameters in broiler chickens

open access: yesPoultry Science
: Under commercial conditions, chicks hatch within a 24 to 48 h window, a period known as the hatching window. Subsequently, they undergo various treatments before finally being transported to the broiler farm.

Feeding and failure to thrive in early infancy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The aims of this thesis were fourfold. The first aim was the early identification of cases of non organic failure to thrive in a community based study and of randomly selected controls.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Impact of early feeding of highly available carbohydrate source on subsequent growth performance, carcass traits, blood biochemical parameters, and intestinal morphology of broilers

open access: yesJournal of Applied Poultry Research
SUMMARY: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of early dextrose (Dex) feeding on subsequent growth performance of broilers. A total of 700 male day-old broiler chicks were randomly allocated into 50 floor pens (in a balanced completely ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Early feeding after esophagectomy may be too early [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Thoracic Disease, 2016
The timing of resuming oral diet after esophagectomy is controversial, with little experimental evidence supporting the strategies of early (within the first 2 postoperative days) and conventional (after the fifth postoperative days). Weijs and colleagues have recently reported the results of a longitudinal study of feeding after minimally invasive ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

Heat Stress and feeding strategies in meat-type chickens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Heat stress can induce hyperthermia in poultry. A reduction in heat load can be achieved by increasing the possibilities for dissipation, decreasing the level of heat production or by changing the thermal production pattern within a day.
