Early oral feeding following esophagectomy
Nutritional support for patients with esophagectomy is very important especially for patients with malnutrition. But there is significant variation in nutritional support between different hospitals. Traditionally, 5 to 7 days of nil by mouth is required to allow healing of the anastomosis after esophagectomy; a feeding tube (usually jejunostomy tube ...

ATZ‐1 promotes DNA replication efficiency to maintain normal meiotic function
Absence of ATZ‐1 interferes with meiotic DNA replication and cell cycle function via CHK‐1. This causes downstream defects associated with DNA damage and genomic integrity. Taken together, this study suggests that ATZ‐1 influences DNA replication efficiency and cell cycle function to maintain normal meiotic function.

Early enteral feeding of the preterm infant [PDF]
Questions about when, how, and what to feed the preterm baby elicit many different answers. Balancing the risks of enteral feeding with those of parenteral nutrition is not easy. In contrast with the sophistication of clinical cardiorespiratory monitoring, the day to day assessment of gastrointestinal function is still largely dependent on clinical ...

Feeding behaviour and its relationship to weight gain in infancy: behaviour and its relationship to weight gain [PDF]
This thesis involved a longitudinal study of 30 healthy infants from 6 weeks to 15 months to investigate the relationship between feeding behaviour and weight gain in infancy. Poor infant weight gain is associated with adverse outcomes in childhood (e.g.

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

Hydrogel platforms for 3D cardiac tissue engineering and fibrotic disease modelling
Hydrogel‐based cardiac tissue models are advancing our understanding of heart health and disease. By incorporating electrical conductivity, aligned structures, and tunable mechanical properties, these platforms better replicate the complex environment of native heart tissue.
