Endoplasmic reticulum stress and the unfolded protein response in lung diseases: molecular pathways and therapeutic interventions

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 3, Page 268-283, July 2026.
Abstract Endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) occurs when the protein‐folding capacity of the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is overwhelmed, triggering the unfolded protein response (UPR) to restore homeostasis. However, severe or persistent ERS can shift the UPR toward pro‐inflammatory, apoptotic, and fibrotic signaling, thereby exacerbating tissue injury ...

Mapping the murine TMJ glenoid fossa over development, homeostasis and in response to disease

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 249, Issue 1, Page 85-96, July 2026.
The fibrocartilage of the murine glenoid fossa and condyle of the temporomandibular joint are shown to form at distinct times with distinct molecular identities. Changes in the condyle during disease lead to remodelling of the fossa to maintain joint alignment.

Reframing Wnt/β‐Catenin Signalling in Liver Fibrosis: Transcriptional State Regulation by CBP and p300

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Liver fibrosis is a shared pathological phenotype of chronic liver diseases of diverse etiologies, including viral hepatitis, alcohol‐associated liver disease and metabolic dysfunction–associated steatohepatitis (MASH), as well as cholestatic liver diseases such as primary biliary cholangitis and primary sclerosing cholangitis, and may ...

A Nano‐Interception Strategy for Chronic Heart Failure: Prussian Blue Nanoparticles Disrupt Fibroblast‐Immune Communication via CCL2 Sequestration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 31, 2 June 2026.
A nano‐interception strategy disrupts pathogenic fibroblast–macrophage crosstalk in chronic heart failure. Scalable Prussian blue nanoparticles selectively sequester CCL2 via ultrahigh‐affinity binding, preventing CCR2+ macrophage recruitment and breaking a key fibro‐inflammatory circuit. This approach demonstrates robust efficacy in murine and porcine
