Comparison between pipe-type grounding electrode systems installed vertically versus horizontally [PDF]
The application of optimality criteria to the sizing of earth grounding systems (EGR) employing pipe-type electrodes has led to the accumulation of a substantial body of significant data [1,2], enabling a comparison between two design alternatives ...

An Edible Chitosan‐Based Acoustic Sensor for Sound‐Responsive Actuation in Edible Robots
This study introduces an edible acoustic sensor for robotic food and edible robotics. Built from a chitosan piezoelectric film between gold electrodes, the sensor enables acoustic communication through ON/OFF keying. Integrated into an edible robot with pneumatically actuated arms and neck, it responds to high‐frequency tones.

Charge‐Tunable Coacervate Micelles for Separator Engineering in Lithium‐Sulfur Batteries
A separator engineering strategy based on charge‐tunable complex coacervate core micelles (C3Ms) is presented to form an ion‐selective layer regulating polysulfide transport in Li–S batteries. The micelles enable uniform adsorption onto commercial polypropylene separators and infiltration throughout the internal pore network, suppressing polysulfide ...

Adjustable MXene‐Based Materials in Metal‐Ion Batteries: Progress, Prospects, and Challenges
Rechargeable metal‐ion batteries (MIBs) beyond lithium‐ion batteries based on Na, K, Mg, and Al metal electrodes which are earth‐abundant and low‐cost have been developed for large‐scale energy storage systems. MXenes, a type of transition metal carbides,

Electrochemistry at nanoscale electrodes : individual single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and SWNT-templated metal nanowires [PDF]
Individual nanowires (NWs) and native single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) can be readily used as well-defined nanoscale electrodes (NSEs) for voltammetric analysis.

Grain boundaries (GBs) in polycrystalline materials often block charge transport and drive degradation. Using Gd‐doped CeO2 as a model electrolyte used in fuel/electrolysis cells, we developed a core‐shell infiltration method to selectively modify GB chemistry and space charge potential, achieving orders‐of‐magnitude ionic conductivity changes.

Wearable Kirigami‐Apertured Capacitive Sensors for Continuous Cardiac Volumetric Monitoring
A wearable kirigami‐apertured carbon nanotube‐paper composite (K‐CPC) capacitive sensor enables cardiac volumetric monitoring. The kirigami process creates a central aperture with cantilevered fibers that confine the electric field, enhancing both sensitivity and lateral resolution.

Nanomechanical optical fiber with embedded electrodes actuated by joule heating
Nanomechanical optical fibers with metal electrodes embedded in the jacket were fabricated by a multi-material co-draw technique. At the center of the fibers, two glass cores suspended by thin membranes and surrounded by air form a directional coupler ...

A fully polymeric two‐dimensional array of Dielectric Elastomers enables self‐sensing, cooperative actuation, and large‐stroke operation in a DE‐based autonomous conveyor. Based only on voltage and current measurements at actuator level, the system detects the presence of a ball and subsequently drives it toward a target position.
