Lightweight fibrous nickel electrodes for nickel-hydrogen batteries

open access: yes, 1989
The NASA Lewis Research Center is currently developing nickel electrodes for nickel-hydrogen batteries. These electrodes are lighter in weight and have higher energy densities than the heavier state-of-the-art sintered nickel electrodes.

Earth impedance model for through-the-earth communication applications with electrodes

open access: yes
Through-the-earth (TTE) communications are relevant in applications such as caving, tunnel and cave rescue, mining, and subsurface radiolocation. The majority of the TTE communication systems use ground electrodes as load antenna. Wires, electrode contact, and earth impedances are the major contributors to the impedance observed by the transmitter.

Rare-earth hafnium oxide materials for magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) generator application

open access: yes, 1979
Several ceramic materials based on rare-earth hafnium oxides have been identified as potential high-temperature electrodes and low-temperature current leadouts for open cycle coal-fired MHD generator channels.
