Verification of the safety criteria of the earthing system

open access: yes
This bachelor thesis deals with the verification of earthing systems in terms of touch voltage. The aim was to carry out research of valid national or company standards, which deal with this issue, and based on this research to propose a methodology for ...

Electrospun Wood‐Derived Biopolymers as Electrodes in Electrochemical Energy Storage Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrospinning transforms wood‐derived cellulose and lignin into architecturally defined, binder‐free carbon electrodes with tuneable porosity and functionality. This review shows how fibre design enables decoupled charge and mass transport, enhancing performance across battery systems, while identifying key challenges in spinnability, scalability ...

Monolithic Oxidation Enables Ultrathin Vertically Graded Tantalum Oxide for Low‐Voltage, Low‐Variability Memristive Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Monolithic UV‐ozone oxidation of Ta forms an ultrathin Ta2O5/TaOx bilayer enabling resistive switching with a vertical defect gradient. A stoichiometric surface layer over an oxygen‐deficient sublayer promotes localized filament nucleation near the top interface, enabling low‐voltage operation, and reduced cycle‐to‐cycle variability.

Study of different types of earthing in electrical installations

open access: yes, 2010
Earthing of electrical installations is a complicated task upto some extent. It requires to follow necessary guide lines to achieve the most correct results. But in Sri Lanka, we don't have particular standards to follow when earthing circuit is designed.

Multimode Oxide‐Based Optoelectronic Memtransistor for In‐Sensor Vision Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multimode optoelectronic memtransistor (OEMT) is demonstrated for vision explainable artificial intelligence (VXAI) hardware. By integrating optical sensing, electrical masking, and non‐volatile memory, the device enables key operations required for generating saliency information.

An Edible Chitosan‐Based Acoustic Sensor for Sound‐Responsive Actuation in Edible Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces an edible acoustic sensor for robotic food and edible robotics. Built from a chitosan piezoelectric film between gold electrodes, the sensor enables acoustic communication through ON/OFF keying. Integrated into an edible robot with pneumatically actuated arms and neck, it responds to high‐frequency tones.

Coordinated Architectural and Chemical Reinforcement in the Crushing Mandible of a Soldier Termite

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The crushing mandible of a soldier termite withstands substantial biting loads despite lacking mineral. Its cuticle is partitioned: convex teeth pair hardness and zinc enrichment with aligned chitin fibers for contact durability, while stiffer concave regions between teeth carry bending loads.
