Miniature Nanomesh Mechano‐Acoustic Sensor with Wide Linear Dynamic Range, Broad Bandwidth, and Flat Frequency Response

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A miniaturized mechano‐acoustic sensor is developed using an electrospun PVDF nanomesh as the diaphragm in a capacitive sensor structure. Unlike conventional nanomesh‐based sensors, it achieves high linear sensitivity, a broad and flat frequency response, and a compact form factor.

Earth System Science

Science, 2001
O ne of the great scientific challenges of the 21st century is to forecast the future of planet Earth. As human activities push atmospheric carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane concentrations far beyond anything seen for nearly half a million years (prompting the strongest statement yet from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that human ...

Earth SySTEM: Investigating earth from space

2018 IEEE Integrated STEM Education Conference (ISEC), 2018
This paper will highlight the first year results of engaging K12 teachers in professional development activities that utilize the Space to Earth: Earth to Space (SEES) model as a part of a NSF IUSE grant with the Institute for Earth Observations at Palmyra Cove and Rowan University. The project uses ground measurements obtained through using scientific

Genealogies of Earth System thinking

Nature Reviews Earth & Environment, 2020
In the first half of the 20th century, the Earth was already envisioned as a system of interacting parts intertwined with human cultural evolution. Historical sources of Earth Systems thinking can still be relevant in light of current and future trajectories, and may offer insights to inform and rethink present-day discourses and strategies.

Earth System Modeling

2012
Earth system models are important research tools for improving understanding of the climate system and for simulating climate projections. This chapter is devoted to the basic construction principles and challenges of such models, whereas application examples are provided in companion chapters. Since they still do not incorporate the full complexity of

Earth System Science Sentiments

Science, 2001
I am in almost complete agreement with John Lawton's discourse on “Earth system science” (Editorial, 15 Jun., p. [1965][1]). However, I was taken aback by the obvious lack of reference to geology as a constituent. By definition alone, geology should have been featured prominently in the discussion.
