Self‐Sensing Artificial‐Muscle‐Empowered Humanlike Perception, Interaction, and Positioning

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
The proposed self‐sensorized artificial muscle (SSAM) can sense its length change as small as 0.01 mm via a seamlessly integrated multi‐segment induction coil. The SSAM provides accurate length information regardless of its loadings, driving pressure, or muscle design, adequate for robust data‐driven feedback control.

Effects of dietary earthworm (Eisenia fetida) meal and garlic (Allium sativum) powder on hematological parameters of Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 2018
Finding the suitable substitution for fish meal without any negative effect on fish performance is especially important for aquaculture development. In this research, the effect of substitution of fish meal with different levels of earthworm (Eisenia ...

Anecic earthworms and associated ecosystem services in a ley-arable crop [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Een vruchtwisseling van gras en maïs zou duurzaam kunnen zijn in termen van nutriëntengebruik, maar het effect op regenwormen is nog onvoldoende bekend.

Aporrectodea caliginosa, a relevant earthworm species for a posteriori pesticide risk assessment: current knowledge and recommendations for culture and experimental design

open access: yesEnvironmental science and pollution research international, 2018
Ecotoxicological tests with earthworms are widely used and are mandatory for the risk assessment of pesticides prior to registration and commercial use. The current model species for standardized tests is Eisenia fetida or Eisenia andrei.

Earthworm Protease [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Soil Science, 2010
The alimentary tract of earthworm secretes a group of proteases with a relative wide substrate specificity. In 1983, six isozymes were isolated from earthworm with fibrinolytic activities and called fibriniolytic enzymes. So far, more isozymes have been found from different earthworm species such asLumbricus rubellusandEisenia fetida.

Custom Shape Formation in Continuum Robots Using Compliant Bistable Segments for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article describes the integration of compliant bi‐stability in continuum robots. This integration leads to two variants of compliant bistable mechanism (CBM) integrated continuum robot segments, extending and locking. Results show that when used together, these CBM‐integrated segments allow the continuum robot to form custom shapes.

Exploration of an Extracellular Polymeric Substance from Earthworm Gut Bacterium (Bacillus licheniformis) for Bioflocculation and Heavy Metal Removal Potential

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2020
The present study shows the potential of an extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) produced by Bacillus licheniformis strain KX657843 isolated from earthworm (Metaphire posthuma) gut in the sorption of Cu(II) and Zn(II) and in flocculation.
