Pellet injectors for EAST and KSTAR tokamaks

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2017
Abstract The paper presents high frequency pellet injectors developed for edge localized mode mitigation and plasma fuelling of the EAST and KSTAR tokamaks. Each pellet injector is able to inject solid deuterium or hydrogen pellets at steady state mode.

First results from gamma ray diagnostics in EAST Tokamak

Review of Scientific Instruments, 2016
Gamma ray diagnostics has been developed in the EAST tokamak recently. Six BGO scintillator detectors are arranged on the down-half cross-section and pointed at the up-half cross-section of plasma, with space resolution about 15 cm and energy range from 0.3 MeV to 6 MeV.

The magnetic field configuration measurement on EAST tokamak

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2009
Abstract The magnetic field configurations of poloidal field (PF) and toloidal field (TF) are the base of tokamak plasma operation. They are determined by the parameters such as positions and structures of PF and TF coils. Parameters of TF and PF coils of a new fully superconducting tokamak with non-circular cross-section EAST will change when the ...

Design and application of GDC on EAST Tokamak

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2011
On EAST Tokamak, DC glow discharge (GDC) is developed to clean the first wall of plasma. It can effectively control the recycling of H, C, O impurities and improve the wall conditions. There are four GDCs which distribute equally on the EAST Tokamak vacuum vessel wall.

50 Hz deuterium pellet injector for EAST tokamak

Fusion Engineering and Design, 2015
Abstract A new high frequency pellet injector has been developed for edge localized mode mitigation and plasma fuelling of the EAST tokamak. The pellet injector consists of two independent modules operating at 1–25 Hz. Both modules are equipped with screw extruders cooled by liquid helium for solid deuterium ice production at steady state mode.

HCN Laser Interferometer on the EAST Superconducting Tokamak

Plasma Science and Technology, 2008
A single-channel far-infrared (FIR) laser interferometer was developed to measure the line averaged electron density on the EAST tokamak. The structure of the single-channel FIR laser interferometer is described in detail. The evolution of density sawtooth oscillation was measured by means the FIR laser interferometer, and was identified by electron ...

Diagnostics for first plasma study on EAST tokamak

Physics Letters A, 2008
Abstract The first plasma was obtained in the EAST on September 26th, 2006. Single-null (SN) and double-null (DN) diverted plasmas were achieved successfully in the EAST tokamak on January 22nd, 2007. The employed plasma diagnostics for first plasma study of EAST are as follows: a vertical one-channel far-infrared (FIR) hydrogen cyanide (HCN) laser ...

Observation of Pedestal Plasma Turbulence on EAST Tokamak

Plasma Science and Technology, 2013
Pedestal plasma turbulence was experimentally studied by microwave re∞ectometry on EAST tokamak. The characteristics of edge pedestal turbulence during dithering L-H tran- sition, ELM-free H-mode phase and inter-ELM phase have recently been studied on EAST. An edge spatial structure of density ∞uctuation and its dithering temporal evolution is observed

Modeling of ICRF Antenna Coupling on East Tokamak

2018 IEEE International Conference on Plasma Science (ICOPS), 2018
Radiofrequency wave in ion cyclotron range of frequency (ICRF) is an important way for heating plasma, driving current and implementing plasma control in the magnetic fusion devices such as EAST and ITER tokamak. Achieving good coupling of ICRF power into the plasma is an essential issue for high power ICRF injection on the EAST tokamak.

Electron Cyclotron Emission Imaging on the EAST Tokamak

Plasma Science and Technology, 2011
An upgraded electron cyclotron emission imaging (ECEI) system consisting of new optics lenses with necessary electronics for receiving and processing signals for two dimension (2D) ECEI diagnostics was installed on EAST. Hyperboloid lens were adopted in the new system to optimize the spatial resolutions.
