Enhanced carbonate production model for temperate stratified lakes
Abstract From spring 2022 to late summer 2024, a study of Lake Ilay's water column and sediment cores analyzed key environmental parameters. Conductivity, temperature, and chlorophyll‐a were measured at 2 m, while pH, conductivity, temperature, calcium (Ca2+), and alkalinity were monitored within the top 20 m.

The geomorphologic evolution of the Eastern Alps
The Eastern Alps are characterized by rugged topography with high relief and great maximum and average elevations in their western part, and by lower relief and elevations in their eastern part. In the eastern part, remnants of two paleosurface systems are preserved: the Late Eocene to Early Oligocene Dachstein paleosurface in the Northern Calcareous ...

A graduated nativeness definition for overcoming dilemmas and difficulties of vascular plant species
Nativeness is a concept central to biodiversity conservation and invasion biology, but there are several problems related to a classic binary nativeness definition. Dilemmas arise from the dynamic nature of species' distribution ranges on longer time scales, and difficulties arise in the application to smaller regions defined by arbitrary borders, and ...

Abstract Mountain grasslands are vital ecosystems providing critical services such as carbon sequestration, water regulation, and biodiversity conservation. However, these ecosystems are increasingly threatened by climate change and human activities. This study evaluates vegetation dynamics in global mountain grasslands (2000–2021) using remote sensing

Long‐Term Snow Avalanche Trends in High Mountain Asia: Climatic Drivers and Impacts
Abstract Devastating snow avalanches are frequent in High Mountain Asia (HMA) yet remain undocumented with climate change impact drivers poorly understood. Here we introduce the first record of 60 million avalanche deposits across 10,701 small catchments, compiled from 33 years of Landsat data from 1990 until 2022 using a snow index.

Abstract Permafrost degradation under a warming climate has altered hydrological and biogeochemical processes across the Arctic. Although increasing fluxes of weathering‐derived ions (e.g., Ca2+, Mg2+, and SO42−) have been reported in Arctic rivers, the underlying mechanisms and hotspots within basins remain poorly understood due to limited analysis of

Abstract Central to our understanding of mantle convection and inner Earth material transport is the mantle transition zone. Mantle transition zone thicknesses can reveal key constraints on the locations and degree of material transport between the upper mantle and lower mantle.
