Control of rhododendron (Rhododendron ponticum and R. flavum) in the eastern beech (Fagus orientalis) forests of Turkey

open access: yesNew Forests, 2004
Because purple-flowered rhododendron (Rhododendron ponticum L.) and yellow-flowered rhododendron (R. flavum Don.) significantly reduce seedling growth and regeneration of eastern beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky) as well as local floristic diversity in northern Turkey, effective and cost-efficient woody control is needed.

The Effect of Fiberboard Modification on Adhesion Strength to Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Sheets or Eastern Beech (Fagus orientalis L.) Veneers

open access: goldBioResources, 2018
The adhesion strength was evaluated for polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and Eastern beech (Fagus orientalis L.) veneers glued onto specially produced fiberboards using urea-formaldehyde (UF), polyvinyl acetate (PVAc), and polyurethane (PU) adhesives.

CLIMATIC PREDICTORS INFLUENCES VFWD FUNGAL DIVERSITY THROUGH DOMINANT TREE' ECOLOGY IN BEECH FORESTS IN THE NORTH-EASTERN ROMANIA

open access: diamondJournal of Plant Development, 2018
Lignicolous macromycetes plays are a vital part of forest ecosystems in Europe. They are involved in Carbon cycle, through decay processes of woody debris. Very fine woody debris (VFWD) forms an important component of this dead wood, being found in any forest in the World. Among European and Romanian forests, Fagus spp.

Impact of climate anomalies on the functionality of beech trees in a mixed forest in the Italian south-eastern Alps

open access: gold, 2020
The increased frequency and severity of extremes climatic events determined by the current and predicted scenarios of global climate changes have a large potential impact on the functionality of forest ecosystems and on their capacity of providing ...

Forest Disturbance Types and Current Analogs for Historical Disturbance-Independent Forests

open access: yesLand, 2021
Forest classifications by disturbance permit designation of multiple types of both old growth forests and shorter-lived forests, which auto-replace under severe disturbance, and also identification of loss of the disturbance type and associated forest ...
