Thrust sequences in the eastern Spanish Pyrenees

Journal of Structural Geology, 1986
Detailed mapping of the South Pyrenean zone in the eastern Spanish Pyrenees shows that a great number of Alpine thrusts affect the basement and the cover. The geometry of the thrust structures and their propagation sequence can be interpreted from balanced sections.

Recent activity and seismotectonics of the Eastern Pyrenees

Tectonophysics, 1986
Results from a recent earthquake in the Eastern Pyrenees are presented and the seismotectonics of the region is analyzed from the presently available data. On 26 September 1984 an earthquake (ML = 4.4) took place in the area of the historical destructive earthquake of 1428.

The Albera zoned pegmatite field, Eastern Pyrenees, France

Mineralogy and Petrology, 1995
Four types of pegmatites comprise the zoned pegmatite field in the eastern sector of the Albera Massif. Type I is represented by barren pegmatites with graphic textures; type II comprises transitional varieties with Li-Fe-Mn phosphates, Be (chrysoberyl) and scarce Nb-Ta and U oxide minerals; type III consists of pegmatites with significant zones of ...

Mineralisation from Vall de Ribes area (Eastern Pyrenees, Spain)

Mineralium Deposita, 1981
Vein mineralisation with no preferred orientation, cutting lower Palaeozoic rocks, and local replacement deposits in dolomite show a zoning in tungsten-bismuth, arsenic and antimony minerals away from the adjacent late-Hercynian Costabona granite. A local reversed zoning is related to higher temperatures indicated by fluid inclusion study.

Chaotic behaviour of coda waves in the eastern Pyrenees

Geophysical Journal International, 1996
SUMMARY S-coda waves of 10 local events that occurred in the eastern Pyrenees and were recorded at La Cerdanya seismic station have been analysed to determine whether the complexity they present is chaotic deterministic or random. The data were first subjected to a qualitative analysis, the construction of a phase portrait by the delay method.

Low‐thermal‐gradient Hercynian metamorphism in the eastern Pyrenees

Journal of Metamorphic Geology, 1993
Abstract Fluids with compositions in the system CO2‐H2O‐NaCl were trapped in quartz veins enclosed in low‐grade metamorphic rocks (chlorite zone) on the southern flank of the Canigó Massif, eastern Pyrenees. The veins, which also contain arsenopyrite crystals, were formed contemporaneously with the main Hercynian foliation and metamorphism ...

Transhumance in the Middle Ages: The eastern Pyrenees

Journal of Peasant Studies, 1995
The political and cultural rise of early modern Europe was made possible by the economic expansion of the Middle Ages. This, in turn, was predicated upon increased agricultural production and the development of the textile industry. In England, the Low Countries, and northern Italy the peasants participated to the extent that workers were required to ...

Attenuative body wave dispersion at La Cerdanya, eastern Pyrenees

Physics of the Earth and Planetary Interiors, 1989
Abstract Coda- Q for P- and S-waves has been measured from digitally recorded events occurring in the La Cerdanya region of the eastern Pyrenees. Interpreted in terms of a power law, Q ( f ) = Q 0 f η , Q-coda for P-waves is characterized by Q 0 = 14 and η = 1.07, and S-waves by Q 0 = 14 and η = 1.13.

Plant taphonomy of La Cerdanya Basin (Vallesian, Eastern Pyrenees)

Geobios, 1995
Abstract In the Vallesian fluvio-lacustrine sequences of La Cerdanya Basin (Eastern Pyrenees) eight taphofacies have been recognized based on the study of plant remains. In the deltaic swamps of the basin (as observed in the Sanavastre opencast mine) taphonomical processes were twofold.

Cinclidium stygium Sw. (Mniaceae, Bryopsida) in eastern Pyrenees

Boletín de la Sociedad Española de Briología, 2016
Cinclidium stygium Sw. is recorded for the first time in the Pyrenees (PyrénéesOrientales, France) which is a significant south-western extension of its known range, approximately 400 km. The new locality is described, and recommendations are made for conservation of the species.
