Post-death Transmission of Ebola: Challenges for Inference and Opportunities for Control [PDF]
Multiple epidemiological models have been proposed to predict the spread of Ebola in West Africa. These models include consideration of counter-measures meant to slow and, eventually, stop the spread of the disease. Here, we examine one component of Ebola dynamics that is of growing concern -- the transmission of Ebola from the dead to the living.

Rapid Amplification and Detection of Single‐Stranded Nucleic Acids for Point‐of‐Care Diagnosis
A rapid, point‐of‐care nucleic acid test can greatly benefit healthcare system by providing timely diagnosis for effective treatment and patient management, as well as supporting diseases surveillance for emerging pandemic diseases. Recent advancements in nucleic acids technology have led to rapid assays for single‐stranded nucleic acids that can be ...

Interagency technical consultation on improving mortality reporting in Sierra Leone: meeting report
By the end of the Ebola epidemic, death reporting in Sierra Leone (SL) became more acceptable amongst local populations, with nearly all deaths being reported to the Ebola hot line alert centers.

This study aims to create a mathematical model to better understand the spread of Ebola, the mathematical dynamics of the disease, and preventative behaviors. An epidemiological model is created with a system of nonlinear differential equations, and the model examines the disease transmission dynamics with isolation through stability analysis.

Native mass spectrometry enables the label‐free study of noncovalent protein‐ligand complexes; however, it is incompatible with conventional molecular biology buffers. By exploiting the dependence of flow dynamics on the hydrodynamic radius, proteins are seperated, including protein‐ligand complexes, from non‐volatile salts and unbound small molecules ...

The New Politics of Public Inquiries
Abstract This article argues that it is possible to identify a ‘new’ politics of public inquiries. A sizable seam of scholarship and parliamentary discussion has for at least a century bemoaned the limited independence of public inquiries. The ‘old’ politics of public inquiries has traditionally been defined by a largely internalised and administrative
