Comparative transcription profiles of Candidatus Accumulibacter and Propionivibrio under phosphate limitation in sequencing batch reactors [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Polyphosphate-accumulating organisms (PAOs) play a crucial role in enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) processes. In addition to biosynthesis, they rely on phosphate for energy generation.

The simulation of nutrient fluxes in wastewater treatment plants with EBPR

open access: yesWater Research, 1999
Abstract The introduction of enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) for wastewater treatment not only affects the activated sludge plant itself, but also the connected process units, particularly those involved in sludge treatment. The consequences hereof are still little known, although problems may appear if phosphorus from digester ...

Simultaneous nitrogen and phosphorus removal in the sulfur cycle-associated enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Hong Kong has practiced seawater toilet flushing since 1958, saving 750,000 m3 of freshwater every day. A high sulfate-to-COD ratio (>1.25 mg SO42−/mg COD) in the saline sewage resulting from this practice has enabled us to develop the Sulfate reduction,

Ammonium oxidizing bacterial populations in South African activated sludge wastewater treatment plants

open access: yesWater Environment Research, Volume 95, Issue 11, November 2023., 2023
The geographical location (site) was significant for selection of the ammonium oxidizing genera. It was established that the inter‐site differences were not climatic in origin, nor related to the composition of the influent, but were rather driven by the activated sludge chemistry, a novel finding.

Effect of pH control on EBPR stability and efficiency

open access: yesWater Science and Technology, 2002
Biological phosphorus removal from water surfaces is an important process for the control of eutrophication. Even though much attention has been devoted to understanding the metabolism of bacteria and the effect of operational parameters on the efficiency of the phosphorus removal process, certain aspects are still unclear.

Diagnostic Value of Electrocardiogram in Predicting Exaggerated Blood Pressure Response to Exercise Stress Testing

open access: yesElectronic Physician, 2016
Introduction: It is believed that an exaggerated blood pressure response (EBPR) to exercise stress test is associated with a higher risk of cardiovascular events.

Factors concerning EBPR process [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015

Perspectives of intracellular polymers in functional evaluation of the microbes for EBPR [PDF]

open access: yesWater Practice and Technology, 2021
Abstract To substantiate and interpret the performance of the Enhanced Biological Phosphorus Removal (EBPR) processes with simultaneous nitrogen removal in five full-scale sequencing batch reactors (SBR) systems (with or without pre-anoxic/anaerobic selector) across India, conventional microscopic examinations were performed.

Tropical-based EBPR process: The long-term stability, microbial community and its response towards temperature stress

open access: yes, 2021
Temperature is known to influence the operational efficiency of enhanced biological phosphorus removal (EBPR) systems. This study investigated the impact of thermal stress above 30 degrees C on the properties of an EBPR community established with ...
