Mathematical Evaluation of EBSD Data [PDF]
AbstractIn this work, a short overview is given, how data resulting from Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) measurements can be used to obtain a discrete version of the Orientation Distribution Function (ODF). Discrete ODFs are necessary, e.g. for micromechanically based simulations of metal forming operations based on the finite element method ...

Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Electrochemical Behaviour of Textured Beta C Titanium Alloy in 3.5% NaCl Solution [PDF]
The corrosion behaviour of a thermo-mechanically treated Beta C titanium alloy in a 3.5 wt% NaCl solution was investigated in this study. Thermomechanical processing prejudges titanium alloys to improve corrosion properties.

Cryogenic Stress-Driven Grain Growth Observed via Microcompression with in situ Electron Backscatter Diffraction [PDF]
The deformation of materials at cryogenic temperature is of interest for space, arctic, and fundamental science applications. In this work, a custom-built cooling system attached to a commercial picoindenter was used for in situ cryogenic ...

Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Round robin crystal orientation measurement using EBSD for damage assessment
Crystal orientations of creep damaged Type 316 stainless steel were measured by 10 organizations using the same specimens, passed in a round robin, in order to investigate the scatter in material damage assessment using the electron backscatter ...

Investigation of grain orientations of melt-textured HTSC with addition of uranium oxide, Y2O3 and Y2BaCuO5 [PDF]
Local grain orientations were studied in melt-textured YBCO samples processed with various amounts of depleted uranuim oxide (DU) and Y 2O3 by means of electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) analysis.

Trace additions of Sn and Sr combined with a two‐step aging treatment are shown to enhance the microstructure and performance of Al–Zr–Sc conductor alloys. Strength and electrical conductivity increase concurrently through accelerated precipitation of fine Al3(Sc, Zr) precipitates and improved dislocation resistance, offering a cost‐effective pathway ...
