A dosimetric comparison of brachytherapy sources for endometrial cancer: an electronic brachytherapy and an iridium-192 source with multichannel cylinders and a three-dimensional technique

open access: yesBMC Cancer
Background and purpose Ir192 vaginal brachytherapy (IBT) is commonly used for patients with postoperative endometrial cancer (EC). We devised a novel multichannel vaginal applicator that could be equipped with an electronic brachytherapy (EBT) device. We

Axion effects on new p-wave superconductors induced by electromagnetic fields

open access: yesNuclear Physics B
Based on the holographic duality, we construct the new p-wave metal/superconductor phase transitions triggered by the electric and magnetic fields. Especially, using the axion field, we introduce simultaneously the spontaneous (SBT) and explicit (EBT ...

EBTS: Design and experimental study [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 2001
Experimental study of the BNL Electron Beam Test Stand (EBTS), which is a prototype of the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) Electron Beam Ion Source (EBIS), is currently underway. The basic physics and engineering aspects of a high current EBIS implemented in EBTS are outlined and construction of its main systems is presented.

Attrition of the Midwifery Workforce: Understanding Factors Associated With Leaving the Profession

open access: yesHealth Services Research, Volume 61, Issue 4, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective To understand why advanced practice midwives (certified nurse‐midwives and certified midwives) leave the workforce. Study Setting and Design A multi‐method, multi‐source investigation included secondary analysis of certification data of advanced practice midwives and a cross‐sectional online survey with closed‐ and open‐ended items ...

The trade-off between graduate student research and teaching: A myth?

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Many current faculty believe that teaching effort and research success are inversely correlated. This trade-off has rarely been empirically tested; yet, it still impedes efforts to increase the use of evidence-based teaching (EBT), and implement ...

Implementation of VMAT‐based lattice spatially fractionated radiation therapy (SFRT) across linac platforms: Practical considerations for QA and motion management

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Background Spatially fractionated radiation therapy (SFRT) offers a method to treat bulky, radioresistant tumors while sparing normal tissues. Modern volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) delivery enables conformal lattice SFRT plans, but practical guidance for implementation across different linear accelerators is limited.

Comparative Analysis of Genomic Differentiation and Outcomes of Contact Between Taxa Within a Species Complex of North Temperate Fishes

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 7, July 2026.
We use comparative genomic comparisons between species and subspecies in a north temperate fish to examine the relationship between inferred divergence time and extent of reproductive isolation. We found that similar divergence times were associated with dramatically distinct levels of reproductive isolation.

Delivery Systems for Therapeutic Genome Editing: Challenges, Innovations, and Future Perspectives

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
Schematic illustration of four emerging CRISPR–Cas delivery platforms defined by distinct design principles and structural features: virus‐mimicking nanosystems (e.g., VLPs), cell‐derived extracellular vesicles, cell‐penetrating peptides, and stimuli‐responsive scaffolds. These platforms enable spatiotemporally controlled delivery of RNPs, mRNA, or DNA

Resonant ion transport in EBT

open access: yes, 1983
We use a model for the ELMO Bumpy Torus as a bumpy cylinder with a toroidally induced vertical drift imposed on the plasma. With this model we obtain the neoclassical plasma-transport coefficients for ions in both the banana and plateau resonant regimes.
