Endobronchial Ultrasound-guided Transbronchial Needle Aspiration Increases the Yield of Transbronchial Lung Biopsy for the Evaluation of Peribronchial Lesions

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2017
Background: Due to absence of visible endobronchial target, the diagnostic yield of flexible bronchoscopy for peribronchial lesions has been unsatisfactory.

New Frontiers in Ultrasonography of the Mediastinum: Pediatric EBUS-TBNA [PDF]

open access: yesRespiratory Care, 2019
In Reply: We read with great interest the letter by Dr Karan Madan on the application of endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) for the evaluation of undiagnosed mediastinal lymphadenopathy and masses in children.

Diagnostic Yield of EBUS Mediastinal Cryobiopsy Versus TBNA in Suspected Lymphoproliferative Disorders: A Prospective Multicentre Study

open access: yesRespirology, Volume 31, Issue 9, Page 903-911, September 2026.
We assessed the diagnostic yield of EBUS‐guided transbronchial mediastinal cryobiopsy (EBUS‐TBMC) compared with EBUS‐transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS‐TBNA) in patients with suspected mediastinal lymphoproliferative disorders (LPDs). EBUS‐TBMC was superior to EBUS‐TBNA and achieved a high diagnostic yield in patients with suspected mediastinal ...

EBUS-TBNA in elderly patients with lung cancer: Safety and performance outcomes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) enables minimally invasive lymph node sampling during bronchoscopy under conscious sedation.

Diagnosis of mediastinal tuberculous lymphadenitis using endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration with rinse fluid polymerase chain reaction

open access: yesJournal of the Formosan Medical Association, 2020
Background/Purpose: Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) has been gradually introduced in the diagnosis of mediastinal tuberculous (TB) lymphadenitis.

Extent of Endobronchial Ultrasound Nodal Sampling and Risk of Pathologic N2 Upstaging in Clinical N0–N1 Non‐Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 17, September 2026.
Greater extent of EBUS nodal sampling was associated with progressively lower rates of unexpected pathologic N2 disease. Sampling of ≥ 3 mediastinal stations at least one N2 and N3 showed the lowest upstaging risk compared with limited sampling. ABSTRACT Background Endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS)–guided transbronchial needle aspiration (TBNA) is ...

Diagnostic value of EBUS-guided transbronchial mediastinal cryobiopsy versus conventional bronchoscopic approaches for stage I/II sarcoidosis: DETECTION-SAR I

open access: yesERJ Open Research
Rationale and objectives A direct comparison between endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA), combined with endobronchial biopsy (EBB) and/or transbronchial lung biopsy (TBLB), and endobronchial ultrasound-guided ...

Minimally invasive mediastinal staging of non-small cell lung cancer [PDF]

open access: yesPrecision and Future Medicine, 2018
Endobronchial ultrasound-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) is a minimally invasive procedure widely used for the diagnosis and staging of primary lung cancer.

Intraoperative Rapid On‐Site Evaluation (ROSE) vs. Frozen Section in Lung Surgery: A Prospective Study on Diagnostic Speed and Accuracy

open access: yesThoracic Cancer, Volume 17, Issue 17, September 2026.
Intraoperative frozen‐section assessment for pulmonary lesions prolongs surgery. In 75 patients with 81 samples, we compared rapid on‐site evaluation (ROSE) with frozen section. ROSE greatly reduced diagnostic time with reliable diagnostic accuracy. ROSE represents a valuable auxiliary tool for rapid intraoperative lung‐tumor diagnosis.

EBUS TBNA for the diagnosis of central parenchymal lung lesions not visible at routine bronchoscopy

open access: yes, 2009
Background: Obtaining a tissue diagnosis of malignancy is challenging in patients with suspected lung cancer presenting with centrally located intrapulmonary masses.
