Development of Homogeneity in an Al-6061 Alloy Processed by ECAP and ECAP-Conform

Materials Science Forum, 2014
Equal-channel angular pressing (ECAP) has been established as an effective method to achieve ultrafine-grained materials and ECAP combined with the Conform process (ECAP-Conform) is considered a promising candidate to realize continuous processing by ECAP.

Subgrain Boundaries in ECAP Aluminium

Materials Science Forum, 2007
The effect of ECAP technology on the subgrain structure of coarse-grained pure aluminium is described by means of the orientation imaging microscopy (the selected lower bounds of misorientation (disclination) are = 2o, 5o, 10o and 15o). Standard profile and intercept counts carried out in three suitably oriented and mutually perpendicular section ...

Temperature Effects of ECAP and Annealing after ECAP on Microstructure of TA15 Alloy

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
A study was conducted by optical microscope (OM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) on the microstructure evolution of TA15 alloy by severe plastic deformation (SPD) and annealing after SPD. In this study, equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) was taken as the method of SPD.

Double-Billet Incremental ECAP

Materials Science Forum, 2008
Batch SPD processes have a limited scope for being used on an industrial scale. More feasible are continuous processes among which the new SPD process of Incremental ECAP (IECAP) is an attractive option. In this paper, a double-billet version of I-ECAP, which doubles process productivity, is presented.

Microstructural and Hardness evolution of AZ80 alloy after ECAP and post-ECAP processes

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2018
Abstract This research paper investigates the microstructure evolution and hardness variation of wrought AZ80 magnesium alloy after each ECAP passes. The strengthening effect of AZ80 alloy was examined after post-ECAP aging treatment. Alloys were severely deformed through equal channel angular press at 533K using route Bc with a die channel angle (ϕ)

Inhomogeneity of Microstructure and Creep of ECAP Aluminium

Materials Science Forum, 2006
High purity (99.99%) pure aluminium processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) was examined in terms of the ECAP microstructure inhomogeneity and its creep behaviour. The results indicate that an inhomogeneity of the ECAP microstructure in mesoscopic scale may influence the creep behaviour of the pressed material.

Structure and properties of AlMg alloy after combination of ECAP and post-ECAP ageing

Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, 2016
Abstract Equal channel angular pressing technique (ECAP) was used before and after solution heat treatment to obtain grain refinement and strengthening of commercial Al–Mg casting alloys. The experiments were performed to investigate the strengthening effect of the alloy after various post-ECAP ageing treatments.

A new approach for the determination of ECAP thresholds

Cochlear Implants International, 2017
Electrically evoked compound action potentials (ECAPs) of the auditory nerve are routinely recorded for testing the cochlear implant integrity and its functional connection to the auditory system. The response thresholds derived from ECAP recordings are widely used as a helpful guide in the fitting of the dynamic range of electric stimulation, although

Strength and structure of AlMg3alloy after ECAP and post-ECAP processing

Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2016
ABSTRACTEqual-channel angular pressing (ECAP) is a promising method for the processing of metals with an ultrafine-grain (UFG) structure of a few hundred nanometers in size. In this paper, the influence of solution treatment and artificial aging conditions, combined with a severe plastic deformation process on the AlMg3 aluminum alloy, was studied ...

ECAP of commercially pure titanium: A review

Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 2008
Equal Channel Angular Extrusion (ECAE) also called as Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP) is an emerging mechanical or thermo mechanical method for synthesis of bulk ultra fine grained or nano materials. The uniqueness of ECAP is that the fine grains are obtained without changing any of the dimensions of the sample. The grain refinement increases the
