Eccentric exercise ≠ eccentric contraction
Journal of Applied Physiology, 2023Apparent eccentric exercises do not result in isolated eccentric contractions, but shortening-stretch contractions at the fascicle level. The amount of fascicle shortening and stretch depends on the preactivation during the exercise and cannot be estimated from the muscle-tendon unit (MTU) or joint kinematics.

On eccentricity functions for eccentric orbits
Celestial Mechanics, 1982Summary: Situations arise in celestial mechanics where orbital eccentricities are large and yet it is desirable to maintain the Darwin-Kaula Fourier decomposition of the perturbing function. Evaluation of the appropriate eccentricity functions \(G_{lpq}(e)\) requires a double summation which, for practical purposes, must be truncated.

The eccentric disk and its eccentric behavior
European Journal of Physics, 2021Abstract Providing example problems that stimulate curiosity and cultivate intuition among students is a prominent responsibility for physics educators. A concept that can be particularly challenging for students to grasp and educators to convey is the relationship between frictional and normal forces in rolling motion.

Coronary angiography has a poor predictive value for the detection of eccentric plaque morphology. Many reports have demonstrated discordance between the angiographic classification and the intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) classification. Although eccentricity is usually considered a dichotomous character, more than two-thirds of all coronary stenosis ...

Summary: The eccentricity \(e(v)\) of a vertex \(v\) in a connected graph \(G\) is the distance between \(v\) and a vertex farthest from \(v\). A vertex \(u\) is an eccentric vertex of \(v\) if \(d(u,v)= e(v)\). A vertex \(w\) of \(G\) is an eccentric vertex of \(G\) if \(w\) is an eccentric vertex of some vertex of \(G\). The eccentricity \(e(G)\) of \

The eccentricities of osteopathy
BMJ, 2012The medical world can boast more than its fair share of eccentrics. But few come more eccentric than Andrew Taylor Still (1828-1917), the founder of osteopathy, who made his name riding the Wild West with a sack of bones slung over his shoulder. Born in Virginia, the son of a Methodist minister, Still enjoyed little formal schooling; his classroom was
