Context and crowding in perceptual learning on a peripheral contrast discrimination task: context-specificity in contrast learning. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Perceptual learning is an improvement in sensitivity due to practice on a sensory task and is generally specific to the trained stimuli and/or tasks. The present study investigated the effect of stimulus configuration and crowding on perceptual learning ...

Impact of eccentricity on regional aridity-humidity variations

open access: yes地球与行星物理论评
Climatic aridity-humidity variations on orbital timescales are crucial for understanding the Earth's climate system response mechanisms. Investigating the relationship between orbital-scale eccentricity cycles and aridity-humidity changes helps clarify ...

Sustained attention operates via dissociable neural mechanisms across different eccentric locations

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Abstract In primates, foveal and peripheral vision have distinct neural architectures and functions. However, it has been debated if selective attention operates via the same or different neural mechanisms across eccentricities. We tested these alternative accounts by examining the effects of selective attention on the steady-state visually ...

Design and Modeling of a High‐Displacement, Skin‐Integrated Flexible Electromagnetic Actuator for Haptic Interfaces in Virtual Reality

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A flexible, skin‐integrated electromagnetic actuator is developed for wearable virtual/augmented reality (VR/AR) haptic systems. A tunable design model enables control over displacement and resonance frequency. The system is validated through a custom VR application with a 6 × 4 actuator array, demonstrating real‐time, spatially targeted tactile ...

Let’s Sweep: The Effect of Evolving J 2 on the Resonant Structure of a Three-planet System

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2023
Short and ultrashort period planets are peculiar types of exoplanets with periods as short as a few days or less. Although it is challenging to detect them, already several have been observed, with many additional candidates.

Mechanical Activation of Piezo1 Drives Osteoarthritis Through Kdm5c‐Mediated Epigenetic Silencing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Excessive mechanical stress activates Piezo1, triggering Ca2+‐dependent cytoskeletal forces that deform the nucleus and reduce H3K4me3. Kdm5c demethylates H3K4me3 at Col2a1 and Runx3 promoters. Kdm5c knockout rescues degradation. Repurposed telmisartan directly inhibits Kdm5c, blocking this axis and showing disease‐modifying efficacy in mouse OA models

Nanopore‐Based Protein Deceleration and Sensing Using Graphene/Si3N4 Dual Membrane Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A graphene/Si3N4 dual membrane cavity system achieves multi‐stage protein deceleration through spatial geometry. Multi‐level current traces provide high‐resolution spatial localization and early warning signals. ABSTRACT Sequencing of protein with nanopores has emerged as a powerful tool offering rapid readout, high accuracy, low cost, and portability.
