The Lick Observatory Hamilton Echelle Spectrometer [PDF]
The Hamilton Echelle Spectrometer, recently installed at the coudé focus of the Shane 3-m telescope, is a high dispersion spectrograph optimized for use with large format CCD's. It was designed primarily for high resolution (R=50,000) wide bandpass spectroscopy of point-like sources down to a limiting magnitude of about V=16.5, over the 0.34 μm to 1.1 ...

KH 15D: A Spectroscopic Binary [PDF]
We present the results of a high-resolution spectroscopic monitoring program of the eclipsing pre-main-sequence star KH 15D that reveal it to be a single-line spectroscopic binary.

Finding extraterrestrial life using ground-based high-resolution spectroscopy [PDF]
Exoplanet observations promise one day to unveil the presence of extraterrestrial life. Atmospheric compounds in strong chemical disequilibrium would point to large-scale biological activity just as oxygen and methane do in the Earth's atmosphere.

High-Fidelity Spectroscopy at the Highest Resolutions [PDF]
High-fidelity spectroscopy presents challenges for both observations and in designing instruments. High-resolution and high-accuracy spectra are required for verifying hydrodynamic stellar atmospheres and for resolving intergalactic absorption-line ...

Spectroscopic Studies of Early-type Stars with the Kourovka 1.2-m Telescope
We briey describe the characteristics of the 1.2-m telescope of Kourovka Observatory of the Ural Federal University, equipped with a fiber-optic echelle spectrometer, and report the results of spectroscopic studies of several early-type stars (CC Cas ...

Low-temperature plasma production is possible as a result of photoionization using high-intensity extreme ultraviolet (EUV) and soft X-ray (SXR) pulses. Plasma of this type is also present in outer space, e.g., aurora borealis.

AIRES: an airborne infrared echelle spectrometer for SOFIA [PDF]
The Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA) will enable unique astronomical observations from visible to millimeter wavelengths. AIRES, a long-slit spectrograph with a mid-infrared slit viewing camera, would enable spectral imaging of gas-phase spectral features between 17 and 210 μm with resolving powers from ~60,000 to 5000.

Compact double-pass Echelle spectrometer employing a crossed diffraction grating
This contribution presents the design and implementation of a compact and robust Echelle-inspired cross-grating spectrometer which is arranged as a double pass setup. This allows use of the employed refractive elements for collimation of the incoming light and, after diffraction at the reflective crossed diffraction grating, for imaging the diffracted ...
