A Calibrated Measurement of the Near-IR Continuum Sky Brightness Using Magellan/FIRE [PDF]
We characterize the near-IR sky background from 308 observations with the FIRE spectrograph at Magellan. A subset of 105 observations selected to minimize lunar and thermal effects gives a continuous, median spectrum from 0.83 to 2.5 microns which we ...

Summary Mycorrhizal associations between fungi and plants are a fundamental aspect of terrestrial ecosystems. Mycorrhizas occur in c. 85% of extant plants, yet their geological record remains sparse. Rare fossil evidence from early terrestrial environments offers crucial insights into these ancient symbioses, but visualizing fossil fungi at the ...

The Great Cold Spot in Jupiter's upper atmosphere
Past observations and modeling of Jupiter's thermosphere have, due to their limited resolution, suggested that heat generated by the aurora near the poles results in a smooth thermal gradient away from these aurorae, indicating a quiescent and diffuse ...

The Pt‐containing leachate solution obtained by a hydrometallurgical recovery route of spent diesel oxidation catalysts was successfully used to fabricate Pt/CeO2 catalysts. Dry reforming of methane and reverse water gas shift tests showed good conversion efficiencies, with negligible carbon deposition after ToS experiments of several hours.

Elemental Analysis of Catalysts in a Fixed‐Bed Reactor by Laser‐Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy
The “Elemental Composition” provides information about promoters and poisons found in heterogeneous catalysts. Access to this piece of information under reaction conditions remains yet an unsolved challenge. This work explores the potential and limitations of laser‐induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) as an in situ reactor diagnostic technique ...

Monitoring the lowermost tropospheric ozone with thermal infrared observations from a geostationary platform: performance analyses for a future dedicated instrument [PDF]
In this paper, we present performance analyses for a concept geostationary observing system called MAGEAQ (Monitoring the Atmosphere from Geostationary orbit for European Air Quality).

An IR Study of the Velocity Structure of the Cometary Compact HII region G29.96-0.02 [PDF]
We have mapped the velocity structure of the cometary compact HII region G29.96-0.02 using long-slit echelle spectra of the HI Br gamma line. This technique detects line emission over a much wider area at the necessary spatial resolution compared to ...

Abstract The Emirates Mars Ultraviolet Spectrometer (EMUS) aboard the Emirates Mars Mission (EMM) has been studying backscattered interplanetary hydrogen (interplanetary hydrogen (IPH)) Lyman emissions with dedicated observation strategies viz., U‐OS3b and U‐OS4b. These observation techniques involve looking away from Mars from the EMM's orbit.

The kinematics of the most oxygen-poor planetary nebula PN G135.9+55.9
PN G135.9+55.9 is a compact, high excitation nebula that has been identified recently as the most oxygen-poor halo planetary nebula. Given its very peculiar characteristics and potential implications in the realms of stellar and Galactic evolution ...
