Application of electrical capacitance measurement for in situ monitoring of competitive interactions between maize and weed plants

open access: yesSpanish Journal of Agricultural Research, 2016
Applicability of root electrical capacitance (EC) measurement for monitoring of crop–weed competition was studied in a pot experiment. Maize (Zea mays L.) was grown both alone and with Echinochloa crus-galli or Abutilon theophrasti in different densities

A study of weed populations and their buried seeds in the soil of MARDI research station and at farmers' rice fields in Sungai Burung, Tanjung Karang, Selangor, Malaysia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A study of weed populations and their buried seeds before and after harvesting was carried out at the MARDI Research Station and at Farmers' Rice Fields, Sungai Burung in Tanjung Karang, Selangor. The results showed that the broadleaf weeds were the most

Biologija i ekologija koštana (Echinochloa crus- galli L. P. Beauv.)

open access: yesGlasilo biljne zaštite, 2017
Barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli L. ) is annual narrow-leaved weed from the Poaceae family. The success of this weed species may be attributed to large seed production, easy seed dispersal, seed dormancy, ability to flower under different photoperiods and existence of biotypes resistant to herbicides.

Critical period of weed competition in direct seeded rice under saturated and flooded conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Field experiment was conducted at the Malaysian Agriculture Research and Development Institute (MARDI) station, Seberang Perai, Penang in off-season 2005 and main season 2005/2006, to determine the critical period of weed competition in saturated and ...

Flooding tolerance in the major rice weed Echinochloa crus-galli

open access: yes, 2022
Unlike most crops, rice is flooding tolerant and this feature has been exploited for weed management in rice fields. Flooding of rice fields prevents weed establishment, while rice remains unaffected. However, the recent emergence of certain endemic weed species adapted to submergence has decreased the effectiveness of this weeding method.
