Inferior vena cava obstruction secondary to hepatic alveolar echinococcosis: a case report

open access: yesEgyptian Liver Journal
Hepatic echinococcosis is a global zoonotic disease that typically manifests through direct invasion of the bile ducts and vascular structures of the liver, subsequently spreading to adjacent organs and tissues. Inferior vena cava syndrome resulting from

Characterization of the inflammatory cell infiltrate and expression of costimulatory molecules in chronic echinococcus granulosus infection of the human liver [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: The local immune responses to chronic echinococcal infections in various organs are largely unknown. Since the liver is the most frequently involved organ in such infections in human we aimed to characterize the inflammatory as well as immune

Role of stellate cells in hepatic echinococcosis in cattle

open access: yesJournal of Parasitic Diseases, 2019
Hydatid cysts formed by the metacestodes of Echinococcus granulosus. Cattle suffering from hydatid cyst shows fluid-filled structures, especially in liver. These parasite-induced cysts localized by forming fibrous capsules in the liver. Fibrogenesis is the host immune response in the liver against these parasites.

Hepatic Cystic Echinococcosis with Specific CT Findings

open access: yesInternal Medicine, 2008
A hepatic central bisegmentectomy was performed on a 36-year-old Iranian man with suspected cystic echinococcosis. Hepatic computed tomography (CT) scan findings showed a large cystic lesion, which included many small round shaped cystic lesions. The diagnosis of hepatic cystic echinococcosis was confirmed during surgery.

Isolation and molecular characterization of recombinant Echinococcus granulosus P29 protein (recP29) and its assessment for the post-surgical serological follow-up of human cystic echinococcosis in young patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We synthesized recombinant Echinococcus granulosus protoscolex recP29 antigen to be preliminarily assessed by ELISA and immunoblotting. RecP29-serology was carried out on 54 young patients with cystic echinococcosis (CE).
