Training performance of echo state neural networks [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE Statistical Signal Processing Workshop (SSP), 2016
This article proposes a first theoretical performance analysis of the training phase of large dimensional linear echo-state networks. This analysis is based on advanced methods of random matrix theory. The results provide some new insights on the core features of such networks, thereby helping the practitioner when using them.

pH‐mediated activation of the lysosomal arginine sensor SLC38A9

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cells monitor nutrient levels via the lysosomal transporter SLC38A9 to activate the mechanistic target of rapamycin complex 1 (mTORC1). This study reveals that SLC38A9 function is regulated by pH. We identified histidine 544 as a critical pH sensor that undergoes conformational changes to control amino acid efflux from lysosomes; therefore, it ...

Multi-scale dynamics by adjusting the leaking rate to enhance the performance of deep echo state networks

open access: yesFrontiers in Artificial Intelligence
IntroductionThe deep echo state network (Deep-ESN) architecture, which comprises a multi-layered reservoir layer, exhibits superior performance compared to conventional echo state networks (ESNs) owing to the divergent layer-specific time-scale responses

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Network traffic prediction model based on linear and nonlinear model combination

open access: yesETRI Journal
We propose a network traffic prediction model based on linear and nonlinear model combination. Network traffic is modeled by an autoregressive moving average model, and the error between the measured and predicted network traffic values is obtained. Then,

Data-Driven Structural Health Monitoring Through Echo State Network Regression

open access: yesInformation
This paper presents a novel data-driven approach to structural health monitoring (SHM) that uses Echo State Network (ESN) regression for continuous damage assessment. In contrast to traditional classification methods that demand extensive labeled data on

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox
