Chronic, neutrophilic pericarditis with free‐floating intrapericardial mesothelial‐lined fibrous nodules in a cat

open access: yesVeterinary Record Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, November 2026.
Abstract A 15‐year‐2‐month‐old, male, neutered domestic shorthair cat was presented for a 1‐week history of increased respiratory effort and declining appetite. Point‐of‐care ultrasound diagnosed tri‐cavitary effusion, and echocardiography revealed the presence of multiple free‐floating hyperechoic nodules within the pericardium.

The “Spiked Helmet Sign” on Electrocardiogram Following Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation: A Case Report

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 6, November 2026.
The Spiked Helmet Sign on electrocardiogram after LVAD implantation serves as a critical early warning of localized pericardial hematoma and impending tamponade. Prompt recognition should trigger immediate echocardiographic evaluation, as demonstrated in this case, to guide urgent management.

Spiked Helmet Sign in the Early Post‐Heart Transplantation Period: A Dramatic STEMI Mimic in a Structurally Normal Donor Heart

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 6, November 2026.
A 36‐year‐old woman developed Spiked Helmet Sign after heart transplantation complicated by subarachnoid hemorrhage and septic shock. Although the ECG changes resolved, she died from infectious complications, highlighting SHS as a marker of critical illness and poor prognosis.

Artificial Intelligence‐Enabled Electrocardiogram Screening for Detection of Low Ejection Fraction in Routine Care: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 31, Issue 6, November 2026.
Asymptomatic left ventricular systolic dysfunction is common but underdiagnosed. This meta‐analysis of 3 randomized controlled trials (37,467 participants) evaluated AI‐ECG screening for low ejection fraction (EF ≤ 50%). AI‐ECG significantly increased detection of new low EF (RR 1.35, 95% CI 1.15–1.57; p = 0.0002) without significantly affecting ...

Prediction of coarctation of the aorta in fetuses with transposition of great arteries: Inverted ventricular discrepancy as a predictor of arch repair in TGA

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 11, Page 2359-2366, November 2026.
Fetal MV/TV ratio offers a simple and reproducible marker of AAO in TGA with a cutoff of ≥ 1.0 accurately predicting the need for arch repair. This simple echocardiographic marker improves prenatal risk stratification and surgical planning, facilitating prenatal counseling. Abstract Introduction Transposition of great arteries (TGA) with coarctation of

PIH1D2 Loss‐of‐Function Directs Ciliary and Cell Cycle Defects Resulting in Left Isomerism With or Without Biliary Atresia

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Background & Aims Laterality disorders are rare congenital conditions caused by disruption of left–right embryonic patterning, often associated with ciliary dysfunction. Despite the identification of numerous causative genes, the molecular basis remains unresolved in many patients.
