Anti‐desmoglein‐2 autoantibodies do not discriminate between UK boxer dogs with and without arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy

open access: yesVeterinary Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Evidence regarding the diagnostic utility of serum anti‐desmoglein‐2 (DSG2) autoantibodies for arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) in boxer dogs is conflicting. Methods Prospective standardised evaluation of apparently healthy boxer dogs for ARVC was performed at three referral centres, including blood pressure ...

Method of checking the function of implanted artificial valve by pulsed Doppler echocardiography – in vitro study

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2015
The usefulness of pulsed Doppler echocardiography for verifying the function of implanted Bjork-Shiley tilting disc valve prosthesis was checked experimentally in vitro. The valve was built into a physical model of central blood circulation.

Cardiac dysfunction during adverse maternal outcomes in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
In pregnancies complicated by hypertensive disorders, peripartum adverse maternal outcomes are associated with diastolic cardiac dysfunction. Elevated E/e' ratio and left atrial volume index highlight the need for targeted cardiovascular monitoring and long‐term follow‐up.

Longitudinal maternal hemodynamics from late pregnancy to postpartum in uncomplicated twin pregnancies—A glimpse into long‐term cardiovascular risk?

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, EarlyView.
Monochorionic twin pregnancies show higher cardiac output and lower vascular resistance in late pregnancy, a pattern appearing to persist postpartum—A glimpse into long‐term cardiovascular risk? Abstract Introduction Twin pregnancies impose greater cardiovascular demands than singleton gestations, potentially increasing long‐term cardiovascular risk ...
