Dobutamine stress echocardiography [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 1997
Dobutamine is a synthetic catecholamine with predominant beta-stimulation. Its half-life is approximately 2 min. The positive chronotropic and inotropic effects of dobutamine induce myocardial ischaemia if significant coronary artery obstruction is present.

Stress Echocardiography in Hyperthyroidism [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1999
Exertion symptoms occur frequently in subjects with hyperthyroidism. Using stress echocardiography, exercise capacity and global left ventricular function can be assessed noninvasively. To evaluate stress-induced changes in cardiovascular function, 42 patients with untreated thyrotoxicosis were examined using exercise echocardiography.

Transoesophageal stress echocardiography [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Heart Journal, 1997
Transoesophageal echocardiography has been performed in conjunction with pacing, dobutamine, or dipyridamole stress to detect stress-inducible ischaemia, and has proved to be a highly accurate diagnostic tool. Its advantages of improved image quality and high diagnostic accuracy have to be weighed against the disadvantages of semi-invasiveness and ...

Stress echocardiography in aortic stenosis

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Preventive Cardiology, 2019
In apparently asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis (AS) group, stress echocardiography objectively identifies symptomatic, high-risk AS patients requiring early aortic valve replacement (AVR).

Republication- Indian academy of echocardiography guidelines and manual for performance of stress echocardiography in coronary artery disease

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Preventive Cardiology, 2019
Stress echocardiography is one of the most useful non-invasive diagnostic modalities for detection and evaluation of coronary artery disease (CAD). It is also very useful for assessment of cardiac response to hemodynamic stress in a variety of other ...

Exercise Stress Echocardiography in the Diagnostic Evaluation of Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease, 2022
More than half of patients with heart failure have a preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). The prevalence of HFpEF has been increasing worldwide and is expected to increase further, making it an important health-care problem.

Stress echocardiography. Part II: Stress echocardiography in conditions other than coronary heart disease

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasonography, 2019
Stress echocardiography (stress echo), with use of both old and new ultrasonographic cardiac function imaging techniques, has nowadays become a widely available, safe and inexpensive diagnostic method.

Re‐Purposing Sapropterin (Kuvan) for ACTA2‐Related Multisystemic Smooth Muscle Dysfunction Syndrome: A Translational Mechanistic and First‐In‐Human Therapeutic Report

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multisystemic smooth muscle dysfunction syndrome (MSMDS) is an ultra‐rare, ACTA2‐related disorder characterized by severe cerebrovascular disease, aortic aneurysms, and smooth muscle dysfunction. Using molecular dynamics simulations and in silico drug screening, we identified that sapropterin dihydrochloride (Kuvan) is a candidate capable of ...
