Macrophage‐derived S100 calcium‐binding protein A9 (S100A9) promotes the pathological progression of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). S100A9 upregulates the interaction between signal‐transducing adaptor protein 2 and leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2, thereby regulating mitochondria–endoplasmic reticulum (ER) contact.

The expert assessment of fetal anatomy before 14 weeks is feasible when adopting a standardized protocol and allows an early diagnosis in most cases at risk for fetal anomaly following first trimester screening ultrasound. ABSTRACT Background To report the implementation across Fetal Medicine units and the agreement between first and second trimester ...

Three-dimensional (3-D) myocardial contrast echocardiography (MCE) is able to derive parallel cutting planes of the left ventricle (LV). However, assessment of the site and extent of myocardial perfusion abnormalities has to rely on the reader's 3-D ...

We report a 13‐year‐old female with a giant right ventricular myxoma extending to the pulmonary trunk. The tumor was diagnosed by multimodal imaging and completely resected, with favorable short‐term outcomes. ABSTRACT Right ventricular (RV) myxomas account for < 5% of cardiac myxomas and are often asymptomatic, easily overlooked.

Quantification of pericardial effusions by three-dimensional echocardiography
Objectives. The purpose of this study was to examine the accuracy of three-dimensional echocardiography for the quantification of asymmetric pericardial effusion volume and to compare this new technique with two-dimensional echocardiography. Background ...

Shear wave elastography demonstrated moderate diagnostic accuracy for detecting congestive liver disease in patients with structural heart disease. Increased liver stiffness was associated with echocardiographic markers of venous congestion, supporting the concept that elastography may serve as a noninvasive marker of cardiohepatic interaction ...

Prosthetic heart valve obstruction (PHVO) caused by pannus formation is an uncommon but serious complication. Although two-dimensional transesophageal echocardiography (2D-TEE) is the method of choice in the evaluation of PHVO, visualization of pannus is
