Abstract Purpose Results of a prospective, randomized controlled trial at our institute demonstrate an association between the dose to the left hippocampus and neurocognitive decline post‐radiotherapy for patients with glioblastoma. To minimize the dose to the left hippocampus, a left hippocampus sparing model was created using RapidPlan (RP) and multi‐

An annular solar eclipse was visible on 14 October 2023 from 15:00–21:00 UT as its path traveled across North, Central, and South America. In this letter, we present the first multi‐frequency Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) observations of ...

Investigating a unique partial eclipse in the High Mass X-ray Binary IGR J16393-4643 with Swift-XRT [PDF]
The orbital profile of the High Mass X-ray binary IGR J16393-4643 shows a dip in its X-ray intensity, which was previously interpreted as an eclipse. Unlike most eclipsing HMXBs, where the X-ray eclipses are about two orders of magnitude fainter compared to the out of eclipse emission, this particular eclipse like feature is narrow and partial, casting

The Eclipse of the Yorkes [PDF]
In one of his greatest novels Balzac describes the sudden accession to fortune of César Birotteau, the hairdresser, and his lamentable fall, due to overweening confidence and neglect of the business to which he owed his elevation. It is the tragedy of the man who rests too long upon his laurels, and has failed to learn life's lesson, that a breathing ...

The effect of multi‐leaf collimator leaf width on VMAT treatment plan quality
Abstract Background The advent of volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) in radiotherapy has made it one of the most commonly used techniques in clinical practice. VMAT is the delivery of intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) while the gantry is in motion, and existing literature has shown it has decreased treatment delivery times and the ...

Double eclipsing binary system KIC 3832716 [PDF]
In this paper we analyzed the light curve of the object KIC~3832716 observed during Kepler K1 mission. We showed that this previously known eclipsing binary is in fact quadruple system, in double eclipsing binary configuration on a long period orbit with the mass ratio of eclipsing binaries $0.7 \pm 0.3$.

Discovery of Eclipses from the Accreting Millisecond X-ray Pulsar SWIFT J1749.4-2807
We report the discovery of X-ray eclipses in the recently discovered accreting millisecond X-ray pulsar Swift J1749.4-2807. This is the first detection of X-ray eclipses in a system of this type and should enable a precise neutron star mass measurement ...

Abstract Purpose Quantify the impact of additional imaging doses on clinical dose constraints during lung stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) treatment utilizing stereoscopic/monoscopic real‐time tumor monitoring. Materials and Methods Thirty lung SBRT patients treated with the volumetric arc therapy technique were randomly selected from the ...

Abstract Background Volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) requires an accurate patient‐specific quality assurance (PSQA) program. In clinical practice, this is usually performed using the γ‐index and the two‐dimensional gamma passing rate (2D %GP). A three‐dimensional (3D) index incorporating the patient anatomy could be more useful for the 3D dose ...
