DNA‐Templated 2D Heterostructures as Phototriggered Dynamic Nanohybrids: From Releasing Molecular Loads to Controlling Enzyme Biocatalytic Function

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DNA strands are employed both as dynamic linkers and nanoscale templates for the integration of Ag2S nanoparticles on MoS2, which in turn imparted photothermal responsiveness; this feature permits the selective cargo (fluorophore, quantum dots or an enzyme) release from the MoS2 surface in response to local heat induced by light irradiation.

SOLAR-ECLIPSE OBSERVATIONS IN PAKISTAN: HEALTH AND SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

open access: yesThe Sky, 2018
This paper addresses health issues associated with the observations of solar eclipses, in particular, eclipse retinopathy due to observation of partial-solar eclipses without proper protection to eyes.

OCTOID: A Soft Robotic System Featuring Programmable Shape Morphing and Dynamic Structural Coloration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by octopuses, actuating legs based on soft materials are fabricated with programmed chiroptical properties and mechanical behaviors to achieve dynamic color modulation and reversible shape morphing, and these legs are developed into a modular OCTOID system.

Ground-based near-IR observations of the secondary eclipse of CoRoT-2b

open access: yes, 2010
We present the results of a ground-based search for the secondary eclipse of the 3.3 Mjup transiting planet CoRoT-2b. We performed near infrared photometry using the LIRIS instrument on the 4.2 m William Herschel Telescope, in the H and K_s filters.

Enhancing and Stabilizing Hydrogen Catalysis Through [NiFe]‐Hydrogenase Immobilization Within Macroporous Covalent Organic Frameworks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
[NiFe]‐hydrogenases efficiently catalyze hydrogen conversion, but their instability limits biotechnological applications. Here it is shown that encapsulating hydrogenase into hierarchical COFs with macro‐ and micropores and functionalized with sulfonic or carboxylic acid groups improves enzyme stability and electron transfer to electrodes.

Deep reconditioning of batteries during DSCS 3 flight operations [PDF]

open access: yes
Deep reconditioning of batteries is defined as discharge below the 1.0 volt/cell level to a value of about 1.0 volt/battery. This type of reconditioning was investigated for use on the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) spacecraft, and has ...
