Atmospheric Eclipsing Binary Zeta Aurigae in the 1987–1988 Eclipse [PDF]

A total of 1,037 UBV observations was made for the latest eclipse of Zeta Aur in 1987–1988 at Yonsei University Observatory. These observations furnish UBV light curves which cover the phases before, during, and after the eclipse. The current issues regarding the radius variations of K supergiant component are discussed.

A set of eclipsing binary systems exhibit a changing inclination over time due to the gravitational influence of a third stellar companion. These changing inclinations manifest in photometric observations over time as eclipse depth variations.
