Photometric Solutions for Detached Eclipsing Binaries: selection of ideal distance indicators in the SMC

open access: yes, 2001
Detached eclipsing binary stars provide a robust one-step distance determination to nearby galaxies. As a by-product of Galactic microlensing searches, catalogs of thousands of variable stars including eclipsing binaries have been produced by the OGLE ...

Kepler Eclipsing Binary Stars. Vii. The Catalog Of Eclipsing Binaries Found In The Entire Kepler Data Set [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Kepler mission has provided unprecedented, nearly continuous photometric data of ~200,000 objects in the ~105 deg2 field of view (FOV) from the beginning of science operations in May of 2009 until the loss of the second reaction wheel in May of 2013.

Atmospheric Eclipsing Binary Zeta Aurigae in the 1987–1988 Eclipse [PDF]

open access: yesSymposium - International Astronomical Union, 1992
A total of 1,037 UBV observations was made for the latest eclipse of Zeta Aur in 1987–1988 at Yonsei University Observatory. These observations furnish UBV light curves which cover the phases before, during, and after the eclipse. The current issues regarding the radius variations of K supergiant component are discussed.

Scale‐up of Streptomyces species cultivations based on the morphological response to the energy dissipation rate

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Filamentous microorganisms exhibit complex morphologies that influence product formation and are affected by various bioprocess parameters. Consistent morphology is therefore essential for comparable results during scale‐up. This study investigates the scale‐up of Streptomyces species (Streptomyces spp.) cultivations from shake flasks to ...

Eclipse Depth Variations in Seven Eclipsing Binaries as Observed by KELT and TESS

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
A set of eclipsing binary systems exhibit a changing inclination over time due to the gravitational influence of a third stellar companion. These changing inclinations manifest in photometric observations over time as eclipse depth variations.

THE SIGNIFICANCE OF USING HIGHER ORDER POLYNOMIALS TO DESCRIBE THE (O-C) DIAGRAMS OE ECLIPSING BINARIES

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2017
The principal aim of the present study is to underline the significance of using higher order polynomials to describe the (O-C) diagrams of eclipsing binary systems.

“Constant” eclipsing binary in the instability strip

open access: yesNew Astronomy, 2015
Abstract The eclipsing binary OO Peg consist of two late-A type stars in circular orbit with a period of 2.985 days. I use the high-resolution spectroscopic and extensive light curves from the ASAS and Hipparcos survey to measure the physical properties of the system.

Data‐Driven High‐Throughput Volume Fraction Estimation From X‐Ray Diffraction Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Long exposure times and the need for manual evaluation limit the use of X‐ray diffraction in high‐throughput applications. This study presents a data‐driven approach addressing both issues. HiVE (a method for High‐throughput Volume fraction Estimation) performs composition estimation for high‐noise XRD patterns produced using polychromatic emission ...
