A Phosphorylation‐Induced Micellization Switch in the Low‐Complexity Domain of TDP‐43

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Phosphorylation of TAR DNA‐binding protein's 43 kDa (TDP‐43) low‐complexity domain by casein kinase 1 delta (CK1δ) acts as a molecular switch, redirecting its self‐assembly from macroscopic phase separation toward finite‐sized, spherical block‐copolymer micelles of ∼30 nm.

Data‐Driven High‐Throughput Volume Fraction Estimation From X‐Ray Diffraction Patterns

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Long exposure times and the need for manual evaluation limit the use of X‐ray diffraction in high‐throughput applications. This study presents a data‐driven approach addressing both issues. HiVE (a method for High‐throughput Volume fraction Estimation) performs composition estimation for high‐noise XRD patterns produced using polychromatic emission ...

Dielectric Elastomer Actuators as Safe and Effective Tools for Mechanostimulation of Human Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Replicating physiological forces is crucial for realistic cell models. Dielectric elastomer actuators (DEAs) offer a soft alternative, though their high voltages raised toxicity concerns. We demonstrate that DEA stimulation causes no cell damage, cell death or cell‐cycle disruption, while activating mechanosensitive responses.

The ORCA‐TWIN qCMOS Experiment I. Science Case and Commissioning at Calar Alto Observatory

open access: yesAstronomische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We describe a pilot study to explore a new generation of fast and low noise CMOS image sensors for time domain astronomy, using two remote telescopes with a baseline of 1635 km. The experiment involves direct imaging with novel qCMOS image sensor technology that combines fast readout with sub‐electron readout noise.

The Influence of Ethical Ideologies on Corporate Social Performance in Small and Medium‐Sized Enterprises in the United Kingdom

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Research addressing the microfoundations of corporate social performance (CSP) in small and medium‐sized enterprises (SMEs) remains sparse. This paper aims to investigate how SME managers' ethical ideology affects CSP and examines the mediating role of their CSR orientation (CSRO): economic, legal, ethical, and philanthropic.

Seizure forecasting: The long and winding road to clinical translation

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract Seizure forecasting has progressed from theoretical aspiration to a rapidly advancing research domain, yet clinical translation remains limited. Over the past decades, advances in algorithm development, chronic electroencephalography (EEG), wearable sensors, and the characterization of seizure cycles have demonstrated that seizure risk is not ...

The Prognostic Value of EDRIC and Its Association With Radiation‐Induced Lymphopenia in Patients With Esophageal Cancer Undergoing Radical Radiotherapy: A Single‐Center Chinese Study

open access: yesThe Kaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of the estimated dose of radiation to immune cells (EDRIC) in patients with esophageal cancer receiving radical radiotherapy. We retrospectively reviewed the data of patients with esophageal cancer who underwent definitive radiotherapy at our institution.

Quantitative Evaluation of Surface Whitening Mitigation via Thermal Annealing in Carbon Fiber/Polyphenylene Sulphide Thermoplastic Composite Laminates

open access: yesPolymer Composites, EarlyView.
Mitigation of surface whitening in CF/PPS laminates via thermal annealing and quantitative image‐based assessment. ABSTRACT Surface whitening is a manufacturing‐induced surface defect in thermoplastic composites, resulting from non‐uniform shrinkage and near‐surface resin instability during cooling.

Characterization of the Pore Environments in Covalent Organic Frameworks by Dynamic Spin Probe Exchange

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with alkyl or triethylene glycol pore linings are probed with water‐dissolved nitroxide radicals using CW EPR spectroscopy. Adsorption affinity, local polarity, and radical concentration inside the pores are quantified, revealing hydrogen bonding, dipolar, and π‐π interactions that govern guest binding, which ...

Unlocking n‐alk‐1‐ynes conformers: Quantum “trigger finger” versus “stiff joint” conformations

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
Quantum chemical analysis reveals the unique function of n‐alk‐1‐yne terminus as a Quantum “Trigger Finger,” exhibiting two near‐isoenergetic conformers (Cs ${\mathrm{C}}_{s}$and C1 ${\mathrm{C}}_{1}$) locked by a symmetric high barrier. This contrasts with the lower asymmetric barrier of the conventional asymmetric “Stiff Joint” alkyl chain.
