A joint development project that implemented Sun Microsystems' scalable processor architecture (Sparc) with Bipolar Integrated Technology's bipolar emitter-coupled logic (ECL) is described. The authors review both ECL technology and the features of BIT's ECL technique and discuss how board and cache considerations influenced the chip designs.

COMPCON Spring '91 Digest of Papers, 2002
The authors describe how an upgrade to the MIPS R6000 ECL chip set, the R6000A CPU and the R6020A SBC, implements a sophisticated coherent cache protocol to support multiple processor systems, and how software uses the system. Particular attention is given to the cache subsystem, the cache control attributes, the cache line states, and the software ...

Management of the CDH patient on ECLS
Seminars in Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, 2022Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is the most common indication for respiratory extracorporeal life support (ECLS) in neonates. The survival rate of CDH neonates treated with ECLS is 50%, and this figure has remained relatively stable over the last few decades.

ECL is a programming language system currently being implemented as a research project at Harvard University. Its goal is an environment which will significantly facilitate the production of programs. In this paper, we describe the motivation for this project, present the approach taken in its design, and sketch the resulting ECL system.

An ECL implementation of the Motorola 88000
Digest of Papers. COMPCON Spring 89. Thirty-Fourth IEEE Computer Society International Conference: Intellectual Leverage, 2003The high performance of the Motorola 88000 architecture, which uses ECL (emitter-coupled logic) technology, is discussed. The ECL 88000 is implemented using Motorola's MCA4 technology. This provides about 50000 ECL gates in a macro cell array structure. The ECL 88000 uses both standard and custom macros within the array.

ECL quenching may play an important role in designing new methodologies for sensitive detection of analytes. Quenching proposes prospective advantages in the framework of ECL and has acquired considerable attention and is inextricably associated with the selectivity of luminophore and co-reactant.
