Revealing hidden patterns in the potential distribution of Leposternon polystegum (Duméril, 1851) (Amphisbaenia, Amphisbaenidae) using fuzzy logic modeling [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers of Biogeography
Leposternon polystegum is a fossorial reptile endemic to Brazil, distributed across several biomes. However, the environmental and spatial factors that shape its distribution remain poorly understood.

Compatibility of entomopathogenic nematodes and essential oils: A new step for integrated pest management of the truffle beetle

open access: yesBiological Control
The European truffle beetle, Leiodes cinnamomeus, is the most important pest in black truffle (Tuber melanosporum) plantations. Entomopathogenic nematodes (EPNs) are promising biological control agents against L. cinnamomeus.

Neuroanatomical diversity in Teleocichla with new volumetric and histological insights into the encephalon of Teleocichla monogramma Kullander 1988

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Teleocichla comprises small cichlids that inhabit the rapid streams of Amazonian rivers; however, there has been limited research on their encephalon morphology. This study examined the neuroanatomy of four species, focusing on volumetric measurements of their encephalon subregions, and providing a histological description of the encephalon of

Immune Response of Drosophila suzukii Larvae to Infection with the Nematobacterial Complex Steinernema carpocapsae–Xenorhabdus nematophila

open access: yesInsects, 2020
Entomopathogenic nematodes have been proposed as biological agents for the control of Drosophila suzukii, an invasive pest of small-stone and soft-skinned fruits.

Patterns of spinal motion, kinematic spaces and the land‐to‐sea transition in carnivorans

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Using 3D reconstructions, we quantify intervertebral joint mobility to investigate how cervical, thoracic, and lumbar vertebral regions evolved distinct kinematic roles in pinnipeds. The findings reveal lineage‐specific adaptations for swimming and highlight the functional significance of vertebral joint flexibility in ecological transitions.

The skeleton of the green Iguana iguana (Squamata: Iguanidae) and its intraspecific morphological variation

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The green iguana (Iguana iguana) is an iguanine lizard with herbivorous and arboreal habits, whose distribution spans through South America, Central America to the south of North America. Although the genus Iguana is well‐known, the species still lacks a comprehensive and up‐to‐date anatomical study, particularly addressing the axial skeleton,

Radiation dose estimation with time-since-exposure uncertainty using the $$\gamma $$ γ -H2AX biomarker

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
To predict the health effects of accidental or therapeutic radiation exposure, one must estimate the radiation dose that person received. A well-known ionising radiation biomarker, phosphorylated $$\gamma $$ γ -H2AX protein, is used to evaluate cell ...

Dracocephalum ruyschiana (Lamiaceae): first record for Spain

open access: yesAnales del Jardín Botánico de Madrid, 2022
Dracocephalum ruyschiana L. is an Eurasian continental species with a fragmented distribution extending from the boreal regions to the Asian steppes and European mountains. In the Pyrenees it is only known from three locations in France, but two of them
