Deep Ecology and Language: The Curtailed Journey of the Atlantic Salmon [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
This article explores the representation of fish in ecological discourse through analysis of the recently published Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA. 2005) synthesis report. The analysis utilizes an ecological framework based on "deep ecology" (Naess,

Innovative Processing of Compacted Waste Aluminum Alloy Powders via Controlled Remelting and Solidification

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an efficient recycling route for out‐of‐spec AlSi10Mg atomized powders through compaction and arc remelting followed by suction casting. By correlating compaction load, cooling rate, and resulting microstructure, we show that intermediate pressures (50–80 kN) and rapid cooling refine dendrites, reduce porosity, and enhance ...

Re-establishing an Ecological Discourse in the Debate over the Value of Ecosystems and Biodiversity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The approach of conceptualizing biodiversity and ecosystems as goods and services to be represented by monetary values in policy is being championed not just by economists, but also by ecologists and conservation biologists.

Handbook of Establishing and Maintaining Oxygen‐Free Atmospheres

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a practical framework for creating oxygen‐free atmospheres at ambient pressure using silane‐doped inert gases. The results show that ultra‐low oxygen levels and strongly reduced water content can be achieved through controlled silane dosing, drying systems, and sensor monitoring.

Environmental Discourse in the “Telegram” Social Network: Methods and Means of Speech Influence

open access: yesRUDN Journal of Language Studies, Semiotics and Semantics
Texts covering environmental problems act as translators of socially significant information that constructs a system of value coordinates and require comprehensive scientific understanding. The parameters of environmental discourse are considered in the

Corrosion and Process Analysis of a Preoxidized MgO Recyclate‐Based Cermet Anode in Laboratory‐Scale Na‐Cryolite Molten Salt Electrolysis of Aluminum at 1000°C

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
EDX elemental map of the pre‐oxidized MgO–steel cermet anode cross section after electrolysis. The development of inert anodes for aluminum electrolysis remains challenging due to the high corrosivity of cryolite‐based melts at 950°C–1000°C. This study investigates the corrosion and process behavior of a carbon‐free MgO–steel cermet anode derived from ...

Toward Low‐Consumable Anodes: Process Simulation and Prospective Life Cycle Assessment of NiFe2O4‐NiO‐Ni‐Cu vs. Prebaked Anodes for Aluminum Production with use of Molten Salt Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐consumable nickel ferrite‐based anodes for the Hall–Héroult process are compared with conventional prebaked carbon anodes using thermodynamic simulation and prospective life cycle assessment under contrasting future electricity system pathways from 2025 to 2050.
