Sulfated Cyclocarya Paliurus Polysaccharide Sorchestrates the Gut Microbiome to Mobilize a Host‐Derived 12‐HEPE Against Ulcerative Colitis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A sulfated polysaccharide (SCP) from Cyclocarya paliurus alleviates ulcerative colitis by reshaping the gut microbiome. This remodeled microbiota orchestrates the upregulation of the host‐derived lipid 12‐HEPE, which directly inhibits the TLR4/NF‐κB pathway to suppress inflammation.

Evolutionary Universal Aesthetics in Ecological Rationality

open access: yes, 2006
We contend that individual reactions to universal aesthetics were critical in adapting human brain structure and evolutionary cognition. Emotional responses to aesthetics and reflexive judgments by prehistoric people may have evolved an ecological ...

Precisely Printing Perovskite Nanocrystals in Glass via Thermoelectric Synergistic Effect

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on the direct migration and enrichment of Cs ions in glass driven by thermoelectric fields, a novel method has been developed to achieve controllable crystallization and patterned distribution of CsPbBr3 PNCs in stable glass. The distribution scale of PNCs strongly depends on the thermoelectric processing conditions (temperature, electric field ...

Adsorption of Forever Chemical Pollutants: The Physical Chemistry of PFAS Near Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current adsorption‐based remediation techniques for removing per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water are limited by knowledge gaps on PFAS behavior near solid surfaces. This review provides a state of the art on theoretical and experimental aspects of PFAS adsorption.

Ecological rationality: Convergent decision-making in apes and capuchins

open access: yes, 2019
Humans and other animals appear to defy many principles of economic ‘rationality’ when making decisions. Here, we use an ecological rationality framework to examine patterns of decision-making across species to illuminate the origins of these strategies.

Resistant Peanut Genotype Reprograms Rhizosphere Metabolism to Enhance Bacterial Wilt Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The resistant peanut genotype selectively recruits beneficial bacteria, which coincides with the activation of salicylic acid (SA)‐dependent systemic acquired resistance (SAR) against Ralstonia solanacearum. Keystone rhizosphere metabolites are positively correlated with both beneficial microbiome assembly and SAR gene expression.

From rationality to reasonableness in environmental administration

open access: yes, 1999
The administrative state is situated in a physical and ecological context that requires a conceptualisation of rationality broader than the instrumental rationality that characterizes most administrative theorising.

Machine‐Learning‐Enhanced Printed Vertical Magnetoresistive Sensors for Transparent, Flexible, Multimodal Interactive Magnetoelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents printed magnetoresistive sensors with a vertically aligned architecture that enables high optical transparency and mechanical flexibility. By integrating deep learning for the analysis of complex spatiotemporal signal patterns, the system further achieves intelligent multimodal interaction capabilities.

Intuitions and Ecological Rationality

open access: yesRevista de Humanidades de Valparaíso
Through an ecological approach, it can be said that a person tries to identify the optimal action for him- or herself by a set of different possible actions through intuition. The debate about the ‘dual process theories’ takes up this idea and postulates two different ways to evaluate decision possibilities: A logical-analytical path and an intuitive ...
