Neuroeconomics and Rationality

open access: yes, 2005
The assumption of rationality is both one of the most important and most controversial assumptions of modern economics. This Article discusses what current experimental economic as well as neuroscience research tells us about the relationship between ...

Use of the “Ru‐1O2‐Hydrazide” System Catalyzed by Metallic Ruthenium Complexes to Decipher the Interaction Between Microbes and Host Cancer Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The dynamic interplay between bacteria and host cancer cells plays a critical role in tumor microenvironment modulation, bacterial pathogenesis, and potential oncotherapy applications. However, traditional methods often fail to capture transient or spatially restricted molecular interactions at the bacteria‐cancer cell interface.

Multi‐Component Functionalized Bifidobacterium Longum Hydrogel for Multi‐Target Integrated Therapy of Colitis‐Associated Anxiety and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...

Light‐Activated Ruthenium Nanoclusters Reprogram the Metabolic‐Quorum Sensing Axis for Precision Periodontitis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Under 660 nm visible light, Ru NCs efficiently photocatalyze nitrate‐to‐ammonium conversion and modulate oral nitrogen metabolism. They precisely perturb Veillonella parvula, block its key support to Porphyromonas gingivalis, and exert an “inhibiting without killing” antivirulence effect.

Wealth, Well-being and Value(s): A Proposition of Structuring Concepts for a (real) Transdisciplinary Dialogue within Ecological Economics [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper provides theoretical tools for discussing some aspects of the nature’s value controversy within Ecological Economics. It is argued that the critical stance of ‘incommensurability of values’ can be reinforced with key insights coming from a ...

Behind and beyond a shared definition of ecological rationality: A functional view of heuristics

open access: yes
Observing human behavior in laboratories reveals time and again the undeniable existence of social components at work even in the isolation of carefully designed experiments.

Rationality and Relevance Realization

open access: yes
Under radical uncertainty, relevance realization, which continuously solves the frame problem by deciding what to zero in on while intelligently ignoring what does not matter, is both the integration of the debate between axiomatic and ecological ...

Nano‐Backpack Engineered Probiotics with Reactive Oxygen Species–Responsive Tungsten Release for Synergistic Therapy of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An integrated probiotic system is engineered to execute a programmed therapeutic cascade against inflammatory bowel disease. Upon pathological signals, the system sequentially performs ROS scavenging, tungsten release, and selective pathogen suppression, thereby breaking the oxidative stress–dysbiosis cycle to remodel gut microbiota and reinforce ...

Frontier Advances of Terpyridine–Zn(II) Complexes: From Molecular Design to Smart Functional Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tpy–Zn complexes serve as versatile building blocks for the modular assembly of functional materials, including polymers, gels, MOFs, cages, and composites through programmed noncovalent interactions, empowering practical applications in visual molecular recognition, smart functional materials, and photocatalytic transformations. ABSTRACT As one of the

Peacemaking among inconsistent rationalities?

open access: yes
Kacelnik, Schuck-Paim and Pompilio (this volume, p. 377) show that rationality axioms from economics are neither necessary nor sufficient to guarantee that animal behavior is biologically adaptive.
