Evaluation of Ecological Sensitivity and Its Topographic Gradient Characteristics in Qinling-Bashan Mountains

open access: yesShuitu Baochi Xuebao
[Objective] Qinling-Bashan mountains are not only an important ecological function area, but also a concentrated contiguous poverty-stricken area in China.

Engineering Microbial Particles for Next‐Generation Biomedical Platforms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microbe‐derived particles (MDPs), which include extracellular vesicles, outer membrane vesicles, inclusion bodies, polysaccharide particles, and virus‐like particles, represent a rapidly expanding category of bioinspired nanomaterials. With their natural origin, intrinsic biocompatibility, and highly programmable functionality, MDPs serve as a ...

Field-based species sensitivity distribution and community sensitivity distribution as alternative ways for field validation of the PNECs derived from laboratory based approaches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The determination of predicted no-effect concentrations (PNECs) and sediment quality guidelines (SQGs) of toxic chemicals in marine sediment is very crucial in ecological risk assessment, sediment quality management (e.g.

Key issues for the development and application of the species sensitivity distribution (SSD) model for ecological risk assessment

open access: yes, 2015
The species sensitivity distribution (SSD) model is one of the most commonly used methods for ecological risk assessment based on the potentially affected fraction (PAF) of and the combined PAF (msPAF) as quantitative indicators.

Hollow Cu2O Nanozymes Enhance Probiotic Therapy for Colitis via Redox Homeostasis and TXNIP/NLRP3 Inflammasome Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hollow cuprous oxide (H‐Cu2O) nanozymes feature enlarged catalytic surfaces for superior reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging. By efficiently neutralizing mucosal ROS, H‐Cu2O directly suppresses the TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome axis and restores intestinal epithelial barrier integrity.

Ecotoxicological Risk Assessment: Developments in PNEC Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Ecotoxicological risk assessment must be undertaken before a chemical can be deemed safe for application. The assessment is based on three components: hazard assess- ment, exposure assessment and risk characterisation. The latter is a combination of the

LRG1 Drives Pathological Angiogenesis by Disrupting Neutrophil Mitochondrial Homeostasis in Bladder Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In bladder cancer, LRG1 binds to ANXA2 to trigger mitochondrial ROS‐dependent NETosis. This pathogenic cascade actively uncouples endothelial‐mural cell interactions, driving profound vascular destabilization. Consequently, targeting the LRG1‐ANXA2 axis attenuates the neutrophil burden and induces structural vascular normalization, offering a powerful ...

Ecological engineering for controlling water pollution in Latin America [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Ecological engineering is a discipline that combines ecology and engineering to design, construct, restore and manage ecosystems. The design of constructed wetlands (CWs) and anaerobic digesters (ADs) are two applications of ecological engineering to ...
