NARFL Knockout Triggers Ferroptosis‐Driven Vascular Endothelial Dysfunction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NARFL is vital for CIA and oxidative stress resistance. NARFL deletion in HPMEC cells, zebrafish, and mice is lethal and rescued by a Ferroptosis inhibitor. NARFL deficiency disrupted its interaction with CIA proteins, decreased aconitase activity, increased IRP1 activity, induced Fe overload, and led to ferroptosis and oxidative stress, resulting in ...

MODERATE SEVERITY DISTURBANCE HAS SIMILAR EFFECTS ON THE PRODUCTION OF THREE FORESTS NESTED WITHIN THE UPPER GREAT LAKES LANDSCAPE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Moderate severity disturbances, which only kill a subset of canopy trees (e.g., via insects, pathogens, and windthrow), are increasingly widespread, and can alter forest structure and production.

Pre‐Administration of Akkermansia Muciniphila Prevents the Development of Severe Acute Graft‐Versus‐Host Disease in Systemic Organs

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Akkermansia muciniphila, a next‐generation probiotic, alleviates acute graft‐versus‐host disease (aGvHD) following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) by providing protective effects across multiple organs. Pre‐colonization with A.

Long‐Term Elevated CO2 Improves Soil Health and Rice Yields in Paddy Fields

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Combining the two longest‐running rice free‐air CO2 enrichment experiments with a global data synthesis, this study demonstrates that long‐term elevated CO2 consistently enhances soil health. In rice paddies, this improvement sustains the CO2 fertilization effect over decades.

Litho-paleoecological characteristics of the Upper Ordovician reef Bol'shaya Kos'yu (Ilych River, Northern Urals)

open access: yesЛитосфера, 2016
The litho-paleoecological characteristics of the Upper Ordovician reef Bol’shaya Kos’yu was given. The reef paleolandscape profile - reef plateau, reef internal lagoons, and frontal reef zone was determined, and reef facies were described.

A simple protocol for cultivating the bacterivorous soil nematode Caenorhabditis elegans in its natural ecology in the laboratory

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
The complex interplay between an animal and its surrounding environment requires constant attentive observation in natural settings. Moreover, how ecological interactions are affected by an animal’s genes is difficult to ascertain outside the laboratory.
