Ecology of malaria vectors in the Americas and future direction [PDF]
Memórias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1992 The resurgence of malaria in the Americas has renewed interest in Anopheles biology. Anopheles darlingi, An. albimanus, An. nuneztovai and An. aquasalis are reconfirmed as major malaria vectors and other species are playing important roles in regional malaria transmission. Adult biting activity and larval ecology are discussed in detail.

Multimodal Engagement Assessment in Children During Invented Story Paradigm With a Social Robot
Advanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.A multimodal framework is proposed to assess children's engagement during storytelling interactions with a social robot. Gaze, physiological, and behavioral data are combined and validated against observer ratings. An automated gaze‐labeling strategy is introduced, and supervised classifiers achieve high accuracy. Advanced Science, EarlyView.The sea cucumber Holothuria leucospilota detects blue and adjacent wavelengths of light via an r‐opsin with a maximum absorption at 459 nm. In the oral tentacles, papillae, and tube feet, distinct light‐sensing structures with specialized morphologies are formed, constituting a unique pentaradial and bilateral combined photoreception system.

Consensus Formation and Change are Enhanced by Neutrality
Advanced Science, EarlyView.Neutral agents are shown to enhance both the formation and overturning of consensus in collective decision‐making. A general mathematical model and experiments with locusts and humans reveal that neutrality enables robust consensus via simple interactions and accelerates consensus change by reducing effective population size.
