The Q10 of in situ microbial soil respiration varies with mean annual temperature, precipitation, pH, and plant cover: a meta-analysis and spatial prediction of Q10

open access: yesScientific Reports
The temperature sensitivity of soil microbial respiration, commonly quantified using the Q10 coefficient, is a key parameter in carbon cycle models. Uncovering how environmental factors affect in situ Q10 values can therefore provide critical insight ...

Asymmetrical habitat coupling of an aquatic predator—The importance of individual specialization

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, 2019
Predators should stabilize food webs because they can move between spatially separate habitats. However, predators adapted to forage on local resources may have a reduced ability to couple habitats.

Resistant Peanut Genotype Reprograms Rhizosphere Metabolism to Enhance Bacterial Wilt Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The resistant peanut genotype selectively recruits beneficial bacteria, which coincides with the activation of salicylic acid (SA)‐dependent systemic acquired resistance (SAR) against Ralstonia solanacearum. Keystone rhizosphere metabolites are positively correlated with both beneficial microbiome assembly and SAR gene expression.

Evolutionary Ecology of Social Interactions among Plants

open access: yes, 2010
Neighbouring plants can interact strongly, competing for resources including light, water, animal mutualists, and local germination sites. From an evolutionary perspective, this implies that a plant’s best resource acquisition strategy will usually ...

Multi‐Targeting Carnosic Acid Kills Drug‐Resistant Helicobacter pylori With Narrow‐Spectrum Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Carnosic acid selectively eradicates drug‐resistant Helicobacter pylori through a multi‐targeted mechanism involving urease inhibition, membrane disruption, and biofilm eradication. It exhibits no detectable resistance, potent in vivo efficacy, and minimal impact on gut microbiota, positioning it as a promising narrow‐spectrum lead compound against ...

Effects of Urbanization on the Evolutionary Ecology Population Genetics of Common Milkweed

open access: yes
Urbanization is intensely transforming environments throughout the world, yet we understand little about how the rapid rise of cities affects the ecology and evolution of populations.

Evolutionary conservation genetics of invasive and endemic parrots [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The world is now thought to have entered into a sixth mass extinction event, which unlike previous mass extinctions, is entirely driven by human impacts.

T2T Genome Assembly and Multi‐Omics Data Reveal Terrestrial Adaptation and Mucus Biosynthesis in Tropical Leatherleaf Slug (Laevicaulis alte)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A gap‐free genome assembly and multi‐omics comparison of the terrestrial slug Laevichaulis alte with an aquatic relative reveal that expansion of the VEGF family orchestrates mucus production, lipid metabolism, and immune defense—highlighting key molecular innovations for conquering life on land.
