Dense tactile streams from across the humanoid body converge on collide in a central wiring and data bottleneck. By relocating computation closer to and then into the skin itself, near‐ and in‐sensor architectures, together with neuromorphic computing, chart a path toward perception‐native electronic skin, in which the conversion of stimulus into ...

Chitin‐chitosan cryogels with degrees of N‐acetylation from 12.2% to 71.4% are fabricated by dissolution, coagulation and lyophilization for the sequestration of heavy metals from water. Colorimetry and differential pulse voltammetry showed controlled adsorption and desorption capacities for As5+, Co2+ and Cu2+, making this material attractive for ...

Photoluminescent Color Centers on a Mainstream Silicon Photonic Foundry Platform
Silicon photonic chips route and process light efficiently but are inherently inefficient at generating it. Here, bright light‐emitting defects, W‐centers, are written into the silicon layer of finished chips from a mainstream commercial foundry: high‐energy ions are implanted straight through the protective oxide and activated by a 250∘C$^\circ{\rm C}$

Auditory–Tactile Congruence for Synthesis of Adaptive Pain Expressions in RoboPatients
In this work, we explore auditory–tactile congruence for synthesizing adaptive vocal pain expressions in robopatients. Using a robopatient platform that integrates vocal pain sounds with palpation forces, we conducted 7680 trials across 20 participants.
