The socioeconomic dimensions of biosecurity: the New Zealand experience [PDF]
The human dimensions of biological invasions have recently become the subject of serious study. Current insight suggests that socioeconomic arrangements can foster or restrict the introduction of new species, and create the conditions for alien species ...

REGIONAL CHANGES IN LIFE EXPECTANCY AND CAUSES OF DEATH IN MOLDOVA AFTER INDEPENDENCE
After the period of fluctuations related to the socio-economic crisis of the 1990s, life expectancy at birth in Moldova mainly stagnated until 2005 in females and 2010 in males. Recent trends show moderate improvements until the COVID-19 pandemic.

Assessing the Ecological Value: Monetizing Process Innovations in Tailored Forming
This article introduces a method for evaluating the sustainability of innovations, even with limited data. The method is illustrated through an analysis of the “Tailored Forming” technology, which explores the impact of sustainability on economic value added.

Simulation of Inhomogeneous Refractive Index Fields Induced by Hot Tailored Forming Components
This article presents a simulation model for simulating inhomogeneous refractive index fields (IRIF) in hot‐forged components, accounting for thermal influences and complex geometries. Through this simulation, a priori knowledge about the propagation of the IRIF can be obtained, allowing for the positioning of the component or an optical measurement ...

Can Economics Afford Not To Become Natural Science? [PDF]
The 'Discussion & Debate' issue of this Euro. Phys. J. Special Topic volume is: 'Can economics be a Physical Science?' I would rather address a more general question: 'Can economics or sociology avoid joining Natural Science?' and argue that mainstream or core economics or sociology can not escape joining natural science.

A Central Limit Theorem, Loss Aversion and Multi-Armed Bandits [PDF]
This paper studies a multi-armed bandit problem where the decision-maker is loss averse, in particular she is risk averse in the domain of gains and risk loving in the domain of losses. The focus is on large horizons. Consequences of loss aversion for asymptotic (large horizon) properties are derived in a number of analytical results.

A Novel Simulation Approach for Damage Evolution during Tailored Forming
Traditional damage models are struggling to accurately and efficiently simulate large‐scale three‐dimensional models with a great number of degrees of freedoms. A new gradient‐enhanced damage model based on the extended Hamilton principle can significantly reduce the computation time while ensuring mesh‐independence which is suitable to use in tailored
