Accelerating Discovery to Deployment: Argonne's Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF) and Its Role in Scaling Materials Technologies for Water and Resource Solutions

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
In this Perspective, we highlight the processing science and scale‐up capabilities of the Materials Engineering Research Facility (MERF) at the U.S. Department of Energy's Argonne National Laboratory, with an emphasis on practical solutions for sustainable water and critical resource recovery. We demonstrate how national laboratories bridge fundamental

Analysis of Causal Relationships Between Climate Perceptions and Ecological Production Among Tea Farmers in the Wuyi Mountains

open access: yesAgriculture
Climate change adaptation in ecologically sensitive agriculture remains underexplored, especially regarding whether farmers’ climate perceptions translate into ecological production behaviors (EPBs). Using survey data from 730 tea farmers in China’s Wuyi

Mechanistic Origin of Photodegradation and Impurity Effects in Donor–Acceptor Luminescent Radicals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Purification‐dependent impurities distort the apparent optical and analytical data of TTM‐based radicals without altering their intrinsic photophysical properties. Carbazole attachment elevates the activation barrier of the photodegradation pathway, offering design principles for achieving more robust luminescent radical materials.

Impacts of an omnivorous ungulate on plant communities and soil organic carbon

open access: yesEcological Solutions and Evidence
Ungulates have been shown to affect multiple aspects of ecosystem composition and functions, including species diversity and carbon storage. Specifically, they can impact below‐ground carbon via both direct and indirect routes—the latter often occurring ...

Species biology and potential for controlling four exotic plants (Ammophila arenaria, Carpobrotus edulis, Cortaderia jubata and Gasoul crystallinum) on Vandenberg Air Force Base, California [PDF]

open access: yes
Invasive exotic plants can displace native flora and modify community and ecosystem structure and function. Ammophila arenaria, Corpobrotus edulis, Cortaderia jubata, and Gasoul crystallinum are invasive plants present on Vandenberg Air Force Base ...
