Cost–benefit analysis of ecosystem modeling to support fisheries management
Mathematical and statistical models underlie many of the world's most important fisheries management decisions. Since the 19th century, difficulty calibrating and fitting such models has been used to justify the selection of simple, stationary, single ...

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

ABSTRACT Background & Aims: Cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) drive immunosuppression in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). However, their metabolic regulation remains poorly defined. We investigated the role of nicotinamide N‐methyltransferase (NNMT) in CAFs. Approach & Results: High NNMT expression in CAF tissues was confirmed by western blotting and

Payments for Ecosystem Services: Mechanisms to Achieve Desired Landscape Patterns
This paper evaluates the effectiveness of five payment for ecosystem service (PES) schemes at meeting conservation objectives when the spatial configuration is important in meeting desired landscape patterns.

This study elucidates that β‐elemene promotes cellular uptake of L. gasseri‐derived lactate by enhancing the membrane translocation of MCT1 in a CD147‐dependent manner. Intracellular lactate, through the lactylation of RBBP4 at the K26 site, recruits EP300 to the promoter regions of downstream genes (POLD1/POLD3), catalyzing H3K27ac modification.

Autologous tumor‐infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy shows promising efficacy in acral melanoma, yet determinants of durable response remain unclear. By integrating single‐cell transcriptomics and TCR sequencing, this study reveals that TIL products enriched for T follicular helper and intermediate exhausted T cells establish persistent clonal ...

Accounting for changes in biodiversity and ecosystem services from a business perspective [PDF]
Biodiversity refers to the dynamics of interactions between organisms in changing environments. Within the context of accelerating biodiversity loss worldwide, firms are under increasing pressures from stakeholders to develop appropriate tools to account

This study reveals that the Fgl2‐FcγRIIB signaling axis is a key mechanism by which MDSCs mediate tumor immune evasion. Tumor‐derived exosomes systemically activate MDSCs via this pathway, positioning this axis as a promising broad‐spectrum target for cancer immunotherapy.
