Sex‐ and Time‐Resolved Physiological and Gut Ecosystem Responses to a Food‐Grade Microbiome‐Targeted Intervention in Collegiate Endurance Athletes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In collegiate endurance athletes, a 6‐week randomized CPYE intervention yielded time‐ and sex‐dependent shifts in field‐based cardiorespiratory, metabolic, and redox indices, accompanied by changes in gut multi‐omics profiles. An exploratory extension during intensified training generates hypotheses warranting future validation.

Remote Sensing-Based Analysis of the Coupled Impacts of Climate and Land Use Changes on Future Ecosystem Resilience: A Case Study of the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Region

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Urban and regional ecosystems are increasingly challenged by the compounded effects of climate change and intensive land use. In this study, a predictive assessment framework for ecosystem resilience in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region was developed by ...

Enhanced Endophytic Colonization of Flavobacterium Promotes Plant Resistance to Fusarium Wilt

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A natural microbial consortium employing a cross‐feeding strategy forms a stratified biofilm that promotes endophytic colonization of auxotrophic Flavobacterium. This enhanced colonization activates plant systemic resistance, effectively suppressing Fusarium wilt.

Linking ecological resilience and ecosystem services to inform spatial conservation planning

open access: yesCommunications Earth & Environment
Balancing ecosystem service provision with long-term ecosystem stability remains a critical challenge for sustainable land management. Here, we develop a spatial planning framework that integrates ecological resilience—the capacity of an ecosystem to ...

Evaluating innovation ecosystem resiliency using agent-based modeling and systems dynamics

open access: yesJournal of Safety Science and Resilience
Evaluating the resilience of the innovation ecosystem to maintain its performance, in the sense of resistance to disruption and recovery after it, has recently received more attention. Several studies have been conducted to model different ecosystems and

Panarchy rules: rethinking resilience of agroecosystems, evidence from Dutch dairy-farming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Resilience has been growing in importance as a perspective for governing social-ecological systems. The aim of this paper is first to analyze a well-studied human dominated agroecosystem using five existing key heuristics of the resilience perspective ...

Beyond Probiotics: Postbiotics for Healthy Aquaculture

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This critical review assesses limitations of probiotics and proposes postbiotics, preparations of inanimate microorganisms and their metabolites, as a more stable, controlled, and biosafe formulation. Postbiotics offer significant advantages during industrial aquafeed production and storage. However, their practical implementation is currently hindered

The Driving Effects of Ecosystem Services on Urban Ecological Resilience in Urban Agglomeration

open access: yesEcosystem Health and Sustainability
Urban ecological resilience (UER) is a fundamental requirement for sustainable urban development. Ecosystem services (ESs) support urban resilience in many ways; however, it remains unknown how the various ES types affect UER.
