Understanding chemical ecotoxicity through interpretable ensemble learning

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal
Characterization factors are used in life cycle assessments to translate the quantity of chemicals and other pollutants produced during a product’s life cycle into the standard unit of an impact category, such as ecotoxicity.

Systematic Deciphering of ATBC Nephrotoxicity Mechanisms via Machine Learning and Single‐Cell Analysis

open access: yesMedicine Bulletin, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the nephrotoxic mechanism of acetyl tributyl citrate (ATBC) by integrating network toxicology, machine learning, and single‑cell multi‑omics analysis to systematically decipher the molecular mechanisms and cell‑type‑specific regulatory networks underlying ATBC‑induced kidney injury. First, a protein‑protein interaction network was

Ecotoxicity of artificial sweeteners and stevioside

open access: yesEnvironment International, 2013
Produced, consumed and globally released into the environment in considerable quantities, artificial sweeteners have been identified as emerging pollutants. Studies of environmental concentrations have confirmed the widespread distribution of acesulfame (ACE), cyclamate (CYC), saccharin (SAC) and sucralose (SUC) in the water cycle at levels that are ...

Environmental Risk Assessment and Anti‐Corrosion Efficacy of Safe‐by‐Design Nitrite‐Based Nanomaterials for Maritime Applications

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
The environmental behavior and impact of anti‐corrosion nanoadditives, ZnAl‐NO2 and MgAl‐NO2 layered double hydroxides (LDH), are assessed under marine conditions. These nanomaterials show instability in water but exhibit no or low toxicity to most tested marine species.

Abietic Acid Enhances the Sedative Activity of Diazepam: In vivo Approach along with Receptor Binding Affinity and Molecular Interaction with the GABAergic System

open access: yesChemistryOpen, EarlyView.
Abietic acid (AA) reveals potent sedative potential by expressing fast sleeping onset and increased sleeping duration compare to the control group in thiopental sodium induced sleeping mice. The compound also exhibited notable binding affinity (–7.9 kcal/mol) toward GABAA receptors.
