Ecotype, ecospecies, and macroevolution
Experientia, 1948The combined efforts of taxonomists and geneticists have succeeded to a considerable extent in solving that part of the problem of evolution which concerns the subspecific level. The detailed work of innumerable taxonomists following in the footsteps of Kleinschmidt K.

Summary1 Ecotypic differentiation is hereditary differentiation in respect of morphological and/or physiological attributes occasioned by the selective action of the habitat environment.2. Ecotypic differentiation in response to one set of environmental conditions is liable to proceed independently of that in response to another set of conditions ...

IN Hereditas, Bd. vi. (1925), which has just come to hand, there is an extremely interesting paper by Gote Turesson on “Plant Species in Relation to Habitat and Climate.” This author has grown in Sweden upwards of 10,000 cultures of various types and races of certain widely distributed plants, in order to ascertain the precise nature of the forms ...

Shrub Ecotypes in a Salt Desert
Nature, 1971A SALINITY gradient extends from the highly saline beaches of the Great Salt Lake of Utah to the surrounding non-halomorphic soils, with a correlated vegetation gradient in which a succession of plant communities grows in concentric zones. The chief communities, in decreasing order of soil salinity, are dominated by (1) Salicornia–Allenrolfea; (2 ...

CHARACTERISATION OF OLIVE WILD ECOTYPES
Acta Horticulturae, 1999Because of the ecosystem characteristics, wild olive varieties (Olea europnea L. var. oleaster Hoff, et Lk.) are widely spread in Sardinia as a typical component of the Mediterranean maquis. In order to obtain more information on the possibility to use wild olives in breeding programs for olive growing a preliminary study was carried out on the genetic

Relative regeneration proficiency ofArabidopsis thaliana ecotypes
Plant Cell Reports, 1989We have compared regeneration proficiency for cultured explants from different tissues of different ecotypes ofArabidopsis thaliana. Proficiency varies widely with both tissue and ecotype, and is highest when the flux of light during regeneration is low. Analysis of F1 hybrids suggests that high proficiency is dominant to low proficiency.

PROTEOMIC ANALYSIS AMONG DIFFERENT AGLIANICO ECOTYPES
Acta Horticulturae, 2014Although molecular markers such as SSRs are extensively used for the identification of different vines, they often fail to discriminate the clones of a given cultivar. For these reasons, many attempts are made to find devices able to achieve this purpose.

Temperature Ecotypes in Seaweeds: Adaptive Significance and Biogeographic Implications
Botanica Marina, 1994We examined the existence of temperature ecotypes in seaweed species from the North Atlantic Ocean belonging to different biogeographic groups. Temperature ranges for survival, growth and reproduction were determined in culture for a total of 68 isolates belonging to 18 species.

The History of the Family, 2000
Ecological arguments have long been used in research to explain the forms of peasant households. In the rich family literature concerning the European Alps they hold a particularly prominent position. Using alpine macro- and microdata, the article shows that the proposed ecological models do not hold up under scrutiny, and that sociopolitical ...

On Ecotype Urban Heritage Tourism
Advanced Materials Research, 2011Based on an analysis of the status of urban heritage in urban ecosystem and its relationship with urban tourism development on the theory of ecological niche, this paper argues that urban heritage is a kind of nature-based human ecology, merging with natural ecology through the interaction of humans with nature, and urban heritage tourism is a kind of ...
