Plant‐Derived Melatonin Inhibits Bacterial Virulence via CpxA/R Two‐Component System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Plant‐derived melatonin is sensed by CpxAE48/T51, which inhibits the phosphorylation cascade transmission from CpxAH240 to CpxRD52, resulting in the inhibition of DNA‐binding capacity of CpxR and subsequent T3SS genes expression in Pst DC3000. ABSTRACT In defending against pathogens, plants deploy diverse secondary metabolites and signaling molecules ...

Morphological and Molecular Marker Screening for Drought Tolerance in Egyptian Jew's Mallow (Corchorus olitorius L.) Landraces

open access: yesActa Universitatis Agriculturae et Silviculturae Mendelianae Brunensis, 2021
Drought is the most important abiotic stress that severely affects the growth and yield of crops. The current study aimed to evaluate seven Jew's Mallow landraces (collected from different locations of Egypt) for both their response to water deficit and ...

OsGSK2‐OsTCP19 Module Integrates Nitrogen and Brassinosteroid Signaling to Regulate Nitrogen Utilization and Root Growth in Rice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
OsGSK2‐OsTCP19 module regulating nitrate response and lateral root (LR) development. Low‐nitrate condition results in reduced BR response, accumulation of OsGSK2 and phosphorylated OsTCP19, which suppresses the expression of nitrate‐responsive genes and LR‐development genes and impairs rice growth.

Determination of Dry Matter Yield and Yield Components of Local Forage Pea (Pisum sativum ssp. arvense L.) Ecotypes

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, 2013
Local forage pea (Pisum sativum ssp. arvense L.) ecotypes are commonly cultivated in the Eastern Anatolia Region for long years. The ecotypes show great variations in yields and plant characteristics and these genetically resources should definitely be ...

Asymmetry in host plant preferences of two ecotypes of Boloria eunomia (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae)

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2020
The diversity and evolution of host-plant relationships of butterflies has been the subject of much research. In this context, an interesting species is the bog fritillary Boloria eunomia.

Trade-offs drive resource specialization and the gradual establishment of ecotypes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Speciation is driven by many different factors. Among those are trade-offs between different ways an organism utilizes resources, and these trade-offs can constrain the manner in which selection can optimize traits.

SERRATE Regulates Floral Meristem Activity by Antagonizing SHOOT MERISTEMLESS and Repressing Cytokinin Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Floral meristem (FM) activity is crucial for the initiation of floral organs. In this study, SE represses IPT7 expression and cytokinin signaling via both the miR171c‐5p–KNAT2 and miR164c–CUC1/2–KNAT2 regulatory modules, thereby repressing FM activity. In contrast, STM induces both KNAT2 and IPT7 expression.

Induction of salt tolerance in Brassica rapa by nitric oxide treatment

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Salinity is one of the major plant abiotic stresses increasing over time worldwide. The most important biological role of nitric oxide (NO) in plants is related to their development and growth under abiotic conditions.

DMS‐MaPseq and DREEM Analyses Implicate the Critical Role of RNA Structural Dynamics in Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus Pathogenicity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RNA structural profiling of Turnip Yellow Mosaic Virus by DMS‐MaPseq and DREEM analyses uncover that viral genome‐wide RSS is highly complicated and heterogeneous, with alternative RSSs widely distributed across the genome. Notably, the viral 3’ tRNA‐like structure adopts alternative conformations in vivo.

Characteristics of important diploid and tetraploid subspecies of Dactylis from point of view of the forage crop production

open access: yesPlant, Soil and Environment, 2002
Tetraploid ecotypes originated from Atlantic coastal region in comparison to diploids are of large growing stature, they build looser tuft (P0.95), fewer vegetative offshoots (P0.99).
